The Drug Intelligence & Clinical Pharmacist will research new and existing drug therapies, as well as evaluating medical literature. A primary responsibility will be to provide drug intelligence services, including but not limited to Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee support and drug utilization services (DUR). This role involves monitoring drug markets, identifying emerging therapies and strategic insight to formulary strategies.

The fundamentals for the job…

  • Develop clinical decision support tools such as decision trees, therapeutic mapping and clinical rules
  • Continuously look for ways to streamline and improve the quality of drug information evaluation
  • Active participation in Pharmacy and Therapeutic (P&T) Committee internal and external, via zoom or in person
  • Prepare drug monographs and drug clinical criteria (this includes new molecular entities, new dosage forms, and new indications as approved by FDA)
  • Continually acquiring clinical knowledge with current and emerging trends in clinical guidelines and formulary strategies
  • Evaluate and interpret medical literature, clinical studies, and drug monographs to provide accurate and reliable drug information
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive literature review to gather evidenced-based information
  • Respond to drug information inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze medication errors to identify trends and prevent future occurrence.
  • Conduct DURs including but not limited to evaluating medication use patterns, identifying opportunities for optimization and implementing strategies to enhance therapeutic outcomes while minimizing risk.
  • Assist in training and mentoring of pharmacy students
  • Other projects or duties as needed.

What we expect of you

The bold requirements…

  • Doctoral Degree in Pharmacy is required.
  • Current and Active Pharmacy License is required.
  • 3+ years of clinical experience.
  • Experience working on or with a Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committee
  • Experience assessing and critically appraising clinical trials, evaluating comparative effectiveness evidence
  • Experience writing and presenting monographs and class reviews
  • Experience with pharmacy benefit management, financial and clinical aspects of the benefit
  • Experience with handling multiple projects at once in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (bilingual fluency in both Spanish and English is a must).
  • We are proud to offer a flexible hybrid work model which will require certain on-site workdays (Puerto Rico Location Only)
  • This position requires availability to work in a specified time zone or working schedule, accommodating the business needs of our clients and team members.
  • This position may require availability for on-call hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to promptly address emergent issues or provide necessary support as dictated by operational demands (if applicable).

  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
