Summary: The Data Manager will review, monitor and improve data utilized within the Education & Services (E & S) Department’s Salesforce platform, which houses constituent data primarily on patients, caregivers, and health care providers who engage with LLS’s services, programs, and resources. This includes managing data processed through existing data integrations, as well as supporting the build out of new integrations and enhancements within the platform, including data migration efforts. The person in this role will work closely with external organizations, as well as Mission Operations, LLS’s IT Department and Director of Data Governance in the Business Intelligence Department, to ensure integrations are running smoothly and quality data are available for E & S users in a timely manner. In addition, they will plan and execute data quality review, cleanup and identify strategies for improvement; the individual in this role will also provide data reports and dashboards.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop data quality review plans and dashboards, including key data quality indicators to track over time; review data to determine sources of poor quality and recommend strategies for improvement.
  • Oversee critical aspects of the integration of financial assistance data from the Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF); this includes monitoring audit logs, checking for data quality issues, reviewing matches to existing constituents, adding new financial assistance programs to process through the integration; managing changes to PAF’s data collection, data structure and associated processes that will impact the integration; and coordinating with other individuals internally and externally to manage these changes, including leading meetings and documenting actions to be taken, as needed.
  • Oversee data aspects of Electronic Health Record data integration (from cancer centers) with Salesforce, including monitoring audit logs, checking for data quality issues, and facilitating communication among E & S staff, Cancer Center site staff and the IT team about needed changes/enhancements and status of integration. Support addition of new cancer center sites and associated changes to workflow.
  • Assist with Stova-Salesforce integration set up on education program registrations.
  • Plan and execute testing of data loads/migrations/transformations, comparing source against actual load for completeness, accuracy, uniqueness, as well as appropriate business rules; perform data cleaning operations.
  • Lead efforts on merging and cleaning up duplicate E&S constituent data.
  • Monitor data to ensure protocols are followed and data are being entered as expected, and discuss protocol issues with Senior Manager, Data Quality Improvement and Training.
  • Work with Senior Manager, Data Quality Improvement and Training to communicate with Education & Services staff regarding data-related processes and changes.
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence and IT to leverage appropriate automated data quality tools as well as other data management tools; facilitate large scale data cleanup and reconciliation efforts.
  • Aid in developing and maintaining standard reports and dashboards for use across the department to allow Salesforce users to track key metrics; validate the data used in reporting.
  • Respond to report requests, including but not limited to board reporting, leadership requests and grant proposals, as well as sharing data with partners with whom we are doing program evaluation and research.
  • Partner with Director of Mission Digital Transformation and Strategy and IT to facilitate improvements to the Salesforce platform, including integrations, and data needed for reporting and dashboards to meet the evolving needs of the department.
  • Assist with standardizing data questions and response options across a variety of E & S forms, including education program registrations, patient referral forms, nutrition consultation request form, clinical trial referral form, email signup forms, and others as appropriate.
  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of the LLS mission, programs, and how E & S staff work, in order to understand the context for the data that are captured and utilized.
  • Work with external vendors as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as Information Systems, Data Science Computer Science or Business Administration. Advanced degree a plus.
  • At least 5-7 years of relevant experience, including working with large volumes of data.
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as SQL, as well as with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI).
  • Outstanding judgment, initiative, critical thinking and attention to detail are essential. Must be able to manage competing and shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully engage with diverse teams.
  • Ability to plan ahead, prioritize competing demands, anticipate needs and solve problems.
  • Commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to manage and validate database activity for an array of database operations.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical practices.
  • Experience with Salesforce and/or Salesforce CRM Analytics is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to detect patterns in data.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent ability to multi-task and work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in a wide variety of disciplines and job functions, e.g., IT, volunteers and E & S, healthcare and clinical staff.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Position may require occasional night and weekend work as well as occasional travel.
  • Average salary range is $95,000 -$110,000, open to further discussion based on geography.
  • Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations.
