About the Role
Based in our New York office, The Director. Merchandising - Licensing is an instrumental role in driving the licensed product strategy for Gap Inc brands. In this position, you will be accountable for leading the product strategy and assortment architecture that fits into Gap Inc.’s channel strategy. You will have experience driving robust merchandising strategies for licensed products for global iconic brands and a proven record of brand stewardship while building on-trend product.

You must be a product leader who thrives in a matrix organization with the drive and ability to partner with cross-functional teams across Gap Inc. as well as manage external agencies and partners.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and drive merchandise assortments that meet global, digital and regional customer needs aligned to the overall licensed category strategy

  • Collaborate with licensing partners on product strategies and requirements to ensure customer needs are met while ensuring Gap Inc. brand integrity

  • Actively participate as the voice of Franchise in milestone meetings to ensure critical paths and calendars are met, partnering with both Global Merchandising, Production and Product Strategy

  • Develop long term strategies to drive growth by analyzing sales performance of businesses, by category and by region, to meet customer needs and maximize sales

  • Drive the PD process seasonally inclusive of the key touchpoints that include but limited to kickoff, development, guardrails, feedback, approvals and data entry.

  • Understand and share product trends, market data and product opportunities to effectively drive strategic opportunities in building the Licensing business

  • Maintain all relevant product tools at the category and product level needed to track the seasonal PD for each Licensee including updates/tracking, approvals, recaps, and share outs.

  • Share monthly and seasonal updates to management teams inclusive of key merchandising KPIs including SKU counts, retails, category market share, relevant buys and overall visual line sheet of landed product.

  • Effectively liaise with Gap Inc Product Teams seasonally to gain access to product assets in developing product for Licensees while remaining aligned with brand direction and assortment guardrails

  • Partner with internal and external cross functional teams (Operations, Marketing, Licensing Agency and Licensees ) to develop and execute aspects of the PD cycle.

  • Develop, mentor and train direct reports through: review of process, timely goal setting, weekly touch bases and quarterly check-ins and identify and provide additional training as needed

  • Ability to problem solve independently, with ability to adapt to diverse audiences and environments

  • Strong communication and relationship/team skills

  • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint) with aptitude for learning new programs

  • Work with and influence executive level leaders

  • Collaboration skills and the ability to influence key stakeholders
