About the role
We’re looking for a D&O Underwriter to join our growing team!
As a D&O Underwriter, your work will have a big impact on the Management Liability team in the Specialty Lines department. People will count on you to think outside the box and provide creative solutions. You will build a profitable portfolio of Management Liability accounts with an emphasis on quoting new business by utilizing your experience.
This is a hybrid opportunity out of our Calgary or Vancouver office.
What you'll do here:
Analyze requests for quotes, renewals and policy changes, and recommend innovative solutions
Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies
Develop long-term and meaningful relationships with our broker partners by providing legendary service
Participate in broker visits, insurance industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development
Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company
Provide technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members
Provide creative solutions on how to improve the department and increase efficiencies

What you bring to the table:
Minimum 3 years of D&O underwriting experience
University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management or any combination of equivalent education and experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills because you understand the importance of building relationships by tailoring your approach when dealing with different communication styles
Exemplary sales, negotiation, and customer service skills
A track record of mentoring and training Underwriters
Positive, solution-oriented and adaptable attitude
Self-driven and able to work effectively under pressure
Analytical and flexible to change
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada

Salary of the successful candidate will typically be positioned between the following range, taking into consideration a number of factors including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, location and internal equity:
$65,000.00 - $97,600.00
