Overview
The Manager, Clinical Finance will play a key role in the Clinical Operations department by primarily supporting the Clinical Operations Study teams and Clinical Operations Leadership Team with oversight and management of day-to-day departmental finances in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), guidelines, standards, federal regulations, and SOPs. The Manager, Clinical Finance will provide focused support of a variety of finance duties including but not limited to provide invoicing oversight, payments reconciliation, accruals, purchase orders (POs), and other finance/administrative duties related to clinical study operations working cross-functionally with Finance and Procurement teams.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Support Clinical Operations leadership with tracking and analysis of vendor key-performance indicators (KPIs), burn-rates (including identifying over-burn), milestone payments; identifying areas for efficiencies gain in scope & unit allocation based on real-world data
- Tracking, review, and validation of Clinical Operations vendors and investigator grants invoicing; perform payments reconciliation
- Triage discrepancies in invoicing from Clinical Operations vendors and clinical study sites vs. budgeted rates/services performed
- Perform periodic/ad-hoc audits of vendor and investigator grants invoicing & payments to identify issues; perform trend analysis to inform better budgeting practices
- Assist with the tracking and management of purchase orders for Clinical Operations vendors
- Assist Finance and Clinical Operations leadership with mapping of active Clinical Operations POs; including reviewing open PO lists and working with Clinical Operations study teams, Finance & Procurement to ensure appropriate PO creation, maintenance, and closure
- Support periodic (i.e. monthly) financial accrual process with Finance and Clinical Operations study teams
- Perform final vendor and investigator grants payments reconciliation before site and study closure
- Manage Payments Transparency reporting (e.g. Sunshine Act) reporting obligations on behalf of Clinical Operations
- May support other clinical trial management activities with the oversight of Clinical Research leadership

Travel
- Potential for ad-hoc travel 1-3 times per year
Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s Degree with 8+years professional working experience in finance/accounting in the clinical research/healthcare setting
- Real-world finance experience required including experience working with budgets, invoices, accruals, POs, Contracts, charges and costs reconciliation, and other financial administrative tasks
- Strong communication (verbal and written) skills in interacting with internal and external stakeholders
- Able to build strong relationships with peers and partners both within and across functional teams to engage high performance
- Able to decipher information quickly, identifying critical factors and assessing risks, and subsequently implement remediation where necessary
- Proven experience in using critical thinking and problem-solving skills in order to meet timelines for assigned tasks
- Able to maintain high levels of self-accountability and quality in deliverables
- Proactive, self-directed, able to thrive and adapt in a rapidly changing environment
- Work cross-functionally, embrace the ideas of others, promotes innovation and manages goals to reality
- Flexible and dynamic approach to working in a fast-paced biotechnology company; willing to perform all necessary tasks, regardless of scope, to contribute to project/program success
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel (PV Tables and modelling) and Outlook
Preferred Education, Skills, and Knowledge
- Advanced Degree or Certification in finance/accounting and/or health or science related area preferred. Combination of education and experience accepted.
