Job Description

Sobi is seeking a passionate, patient-centric, talented leader for the role of National Director, Thought Leader Liaison Team (ND TLL). The ND TLL will be responsible for building and leading a team of TLL colleagues to support the upcoming launch of a novel, infused asset for a severe and rare form of gout. Key objectives of the ND TLL and his/her team will include, but not be limited to, developing and executing a KOL engagement strategy, building and managing a speaker bureau, developing and executing comprehensive Congress plans, organizing and moderating regional and national advisory boards, gathering commercial insights and partnering with field teams on the development and execution of local ecosystem plans.  

This ND TLL role will collaborate closely, and within approved SOPs, with multiple field and HQ-based Sobi colleagues. Key internal partners will include colleagues from sales management, medical affairs, commercial operations and market access. The preferred candidate will bring TLL team management experience and a deep understanding of rheumatology, ideally with a focus on gout and/or recent launch experience. They will have a demonstrated ability to cultivate a community of brand advocates, driving impact through personalized interactions, focused small group meetings, and influential advisory boards.  

The ND TLL position will report to the Executive Director, Immunology Marketing and will sit on the Marketing Leadership Team (MLT) for the brand. 

The ND TLL job responsibilities are focused primarily on: 

KOL Engagement Strategy & Execution 

  • Drive pre-launch commercial engagement with KOL community 

  • Identify and profile KOLs within the chronic refractory gout community 

  • Engage with KOLs on various disease state education topics 

  • Ensure strong commercial relationships with KOLs 

  • Nurture and grow KOL relationships 

  • Engage with KOLs on various disease state and product related topics 

  • Collaborate and coordinate closely with field sales and marketing to identify partnering opportunities with KOLs 

  • Proactively seek out and cultivate relationships with new KOLs who can help to expand the reach of education related to the product and chronic refractory gout 

Speaker Bureau 

  • Develop and manage a compliant and industry leading peer-to-peer (P2P) education platform to ensure optimal reach and frequency to identified customer base that is aligned with brand strategy and marketing 

  • Work with field partners to identify and vet qualified promotional speakers that align with overall needs of the brand. Develop and refine criteria for selecting promotional speakers to ensure they are effective brand advocates 

  • Coordinate and execute speaker bureau training and coaching, continuously assessing opportunities to improve the clarity and impact of communications 

  • Lead speaker contracting activities in close collaboration with field sales and compliance 

  • Engage speaker budget in conjunction with brand marketing and field sales 

Congresses 

  • Collaborate with brand marketing to develop a comprehensive Congress Strategy that aligns and supports key strategic imperatives  

  • Plan and execute key thought leader engagements, advocacy engagements, and senior executive encounters at local, regional and national conferences, POAs in field engagements, and other venues as directed 

  • Present at conferences and identify sponsorship opportunities when appropriate 

  • Manage sponsorship budget in conjunction with brand marketing and field sales 

Insight Gathering 

  • Actively collect, analyze, and synthesize information on KOL sentiments, competitor activities, and broader market trends from diverse sources (1:1 meetings, advisory boards, congresses). Continuously monitor the competitive landscape and identify emerging trends to inform strategic planning and decision-making 

  • Leverage insights to implement regional cross-functional account strategy and KOL engagement plan in partnership with the brand team and field partners (MSLs and sales representatives) 

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, including key accounts, stakeholders, and influencers to inform targeted engagement strategies 

  • Lead the development and execution of commercial-led advisory boards and other third-party insight gathering tactics 

Local Market Plans 

  • Ensure strong partnerships with key ecosystem partners and support both the development and execution of local business plans 

  • Collaborate with field sales and medical teams to plan and execute KOL engagements and executive encounters at local, regional and national conferences, POAs, in field engagements, and other venues in a complaint manner  

Brand Marketing 

  • Work with targeted KOLs to obtain feedback on disease and brand-related marketing strategies/materials 

  • Act as a liaison between KOLs and home office cross-functional teams, primarily for commercial/marketing encounter (other executive encounters as requested) 

  • Lead various KOL-involved marketing projects as needed, including resource development through the legal, regulatory, medical review process 

  • Support development of the annual brand franchise plan and provide feedback on various topics as requested 

Team Management 

  • Recruit, hire and manage a team of TLLs 

  • Define and monitor team effectiveness metrics / KPIs 

  • Develop and manage TLL team budget 

  • Ensure strong culture of compliance to include fair-balanced, and effective message delivery within all promotional education channels (i.e., speaker programs, product theaters, exhibitor spotlights, etc.) 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree 

  • Rheumatology and/or nephrology experience  

  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and lead a team of direct reports 

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of work experience in one or more of the following: field sales, thought leader liaison, product marketing, or medical / clinical experience in the same or related therapeutic area within the pharmaceutical / biotech industry 

  • Deep understanding of people and possess an ability to build mutually beneficial relationships 

  • Ability to assemble and lead cross-functional teams toward a shared vision of success 

  • Ability to present ideas effectively to individuals or groups, targeting presentation to the needs of the audience 

  • Strong communication and organizational skills 

  • Strong project management experience, including superior planning skills. 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Ability to execute against strategic and tactical plans under tight timelines 

  • Ability to travel to meetings/trainings/programs as necessary 

  • ~ 75% domestic travel likely; could be less based on geography  

  • Work within label, and regulatory and legal compliance guidelines 

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Information

The base salary pay range for this role is $190,000-$245000 annually. Actual pay for this position will take into account factors such as experience and location. In addition to a base salary, this position is also eligible for a competitive 401k match, short and long-term incentives, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD and life insurance benefits, in addition to other health and wellness programs and offerings.
