Overview:
The Export Compliance Specialist will be responsible for supporting Veeco’s Export Group in connection with the Company’s worldwide compliance efforts. Because we work with controlled technology, this position requires a basic understanding of applicable U.S. export laws and regulations, together with the related documentary requirements for the export of goods and services. As a member of Veeco’s Corporate group, the Export Compliance Specialist will work closely with members of Veeco’s Order Management, Sales, Legal, Marketing, Supply Chain, Product Development, and Engineering and Technology groups.
While this is a remote position, you must be located in the U.S. - Eastern Time Zone.
Responsibilities:
Qualified candidates must demonstrate extremely high ethical standards and will be expected to:
- Perform Export Order Management functions (clearing shipments while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and Company requirements, new account screening and due diligence reviews, and monitoring/maintaining backlog and quarterly shipment reports).
- Verify export classifications and export shipping documentation.
- Screen and properly vet third-party vendors, technology partners, contractors and consultants.
- Help prepare and submit Department of Commerce export license applications and commodity classification requests.
- Conduct classification reviews to assign Export Control Classification Numbers and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes for new products and technology.
- Prepare and submit the appropriate Electronics Export Information (EEI).
- Help oversee the management and enforcement of Veeco’s export compliance policies.
- Develop and conduct training sessions for employees and other Company partners.
- Handle day-to-day export administrative matters such as requests to confirm material composition, the function and purpose of imported items, and to ensure that HTS codes are valid.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to develop a full working knowledge of Bureau of Industry and Security, Department of Commerce, U.S. Export Administration Regulations, Anti-boycott Regulations, and Deemed Export Regulations.
- Ability to interpret and apply Foreign Trade Regulations and reporting requirements for EEI Automated Export System.
- Experience with SAP, or related enterprise software platform.
- Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-directed and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

The expected salary range for this position is $56,541-$71,618, plus bonus opportunity. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
