Job Overview

We invite you to join our dynamic team as a Program Assistant/Tutor, where you will play a pivotal role in supporting our afterschool tutoring and parent partnership initiatives. This remote position offers a flexible commitment of 10-18 hours per week, predominantly scheduled from Monday to Thursday between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. If you are driven by the desire to make a positive impact on the lives of students and families, we encourage you to submit your application.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, instruction, and assessment of educational activities.
  • Create and enhance instructional materials and strategies aimed at bolstering student learning.
  • Aid in on-site programming and collaborate with the afterschool teacher as needed.
  • Facilitate effective communication among staff, parents, and students, proficiently utilizing both English and Spanish.
  • Collect and input data for program evaluation and tracking purposes.
  • Provide timely and professional responses to inquiries from students, parents, and staff.
  • Prepare and disseminate program-related documents and resources.
  • Support students in their homework, projects, test preparation, and academic skill development.
  • Cultivate positive and constructive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Recognize and address diverse learning styles to tailor educational approaches accordingly.
  • Offer progress updates and feedback to students and their families.
  • Provide support to students in-person or through video conferencing as required.
  • Stay informed about current school curricula and educational best practices.

Required Skills

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (both verbal and written).
  • Strong leadership capabilities when engaging with both adults and children.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, particularly with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and capacity to manage competing deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Solution-oriented approach with effective problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort level with troubleshooting common Chromebook issues.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in parent coaching or working with diverse families is an advantage.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are necessary.
  • Availability for some evenings and weekends for events as required.
  • A commitment to educational equity, particularly in support of Latino students and families.
