The Strategic Account Manager is a talented and competitive individual who thrives in a 6-to-18-month sales cycle environment. You will play a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives. In your role, you will demonstrate a proven track record of exceeding sales quota, love the thrill of the hunt, and are capable of building and growing the pipeline of the business. Your experience navigating through organizations, doing deep discovery and speaking to multiple decision makers will be an asset. If you are an eager, high-performing individual ready to work in a fast-paced, team environment, then we welcome you to join our SmartSimple team!

Where You’ll Work:

  • SmartSimple is a remote-first workplace. We recognize the distinct advantages of workplace flexibility.
  • SmartSimple’s headquarters are located in Toronto, Canada with our EMEA office based out of Dublin, Ireland. Employees will have the option of working from the office (when it is safe to do so) if they wish or they may work remotely from home.

What You’ll Do:

  • Exceed assigned revenue goals by creating and executing against a plan that adheres to SmartSimple’s customer-centric sales methodology and whole-company approach to customer experience.
  • Manage a complex, multi-platform solution sale with a 6-to-18-months purchasing cycle that begins with initial targeting of prospects and continues through transition to client services and support.
  • Maintain an accurate pipeline with timely sales forecasts, proactive internal communication, and excellent documentation of activities and client commitments in the required systems (e.g. Salesforce).
  • Cultivate prospects in a targeted, measurable way, adding to the pipeline on a consistent basis.
  • Maintain relationships with current clients and influencers to encourage referrals and references.
  • Focus on new business while continuing to cultivate and cross-sell into existing account relationships.
  • Coordinate resources such as marketing collateral, quotes, RFPs, online demonstrations by subject matter experts, and engagement with other internal departments to meet prospects’ research needs.
  • Be conversant in the specialized domain of grantmaking, within the traditional philanthropic sector, government granting, research funding, and/or corporate social responsibility. Develop a deep understanding of customer trends and key influencers in the assigned market.
  • Excel in cross-departmental collaboration:  Provide feedback to marketing on sales tools, product and service positioning, market intelligence, and campaigns. Work closely with customer services and support to facilitate a seamless customer experience. Maintain accurate, accessible documentation on client commitments. Cultivate good working relationships across the company.
  • Take part in educational programs, webinars, conferences, and client events to build your expertise, and expand your personal network.
  • You’ll provide feedback to marketing on sales tools, prospect insights, and campaign outcomes.
  • You’ll participate in seminars, trade shows, and webinars to elevate brand visibility and engagement.
  • You’ll stay informed about the foundations and philanthropy sector, positioning yourself as a knowledgeable resource.

What You’ll Need:

  • 5-10 years of full-time B2B sales experience (software sales experience a plus)
  • A proven track record of consistent over-quota achievement within a solutions software vendor.
  • Exceptional customer service and the ability to understand customer needs and meet that need with a successful solution-based sale
  • Bachelor's degree required.

    • Experience selling in the foundation/philanthropic space
    • Experience being held to metrics

Why You’ll Love Working at SmartSimple:
