Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and seasoned Associate Director of Budget and Financial Planning to play a crucial role in our compliance framework. In this position, you will engage extensively with key stakeholders, including the Chief Operating Officer and the Senior Associate Dean for Research, among others. Your primary objective will be to uphold compliance within pre-award and post-award research administration, while meticulously overseeing the assessment of complex research-related contracts and agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze policies governing research administration to ensure compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and institutional mandates.
  • Monitor compliance challenges and trends, identifying and escalating high-risk situations to leadership in a timely manner.
  • Develop and propose risk mitigation strategies to effectively address and resolve complex contractual issues.
  • Evaluate intricate contracts, subcontracts, and non-federal awards, assessing associated risks and liabilities, and provide recommendations regarding acceptance.
  • Create and manage an outreach strategy focused on research administration policy and compliance issues, facilitating clear communication across the organization.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement new policies and compliance requirements, fostering a culture of excellence in research administration.
  • Represent the organization in discussions with various offices, including the Office of Sponsored Research and Office of Technology Licensing.
  • Lead and nurture a team of five, ensuring effective hiring, management, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Hold delegated responsibilities and institutional signature authority for sponsored projects.

  • Experience with research data privacy regulations, including HIPAA and GDPR.
  • Proven track record in managing complex agreements and contracts.
  • Experience as an institutional official with delegated signature authority.
