Job description

Checkmate is a growing and dynamic start-up organization founded in 2016. A leader in the restaurant-tech space. Checkmate provides a two-way integration layer between the restaurant’s Point of Sale (POS) system and the evolving digital ordering ecosystem. ItsaCheckmate works with 23,000+ restaurant clients, including small “mom-and-pops” to major chains like Wendy’s, Arby’s, Five Guys, Buffalo Wild Wings, and White Castle. We proudly integrated with 50+ point-of-sale systems and over 100 ordering platforms, including UberEats, DoorDash, and Grubhub.

We are seeking an accomplished Ruby on Rails Fullstack developer with a minimum of 7 years of experience in Ruby on Rails technology and proficiency in React.js. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned Ruby on Rails developer with exposure to React.js and have a proven track record of delivering high quality code on time. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and deploy scalable and robust web applications that align with our business goals.

This role is 100% remote, and you may work from any location within India.

Key Responsibilities
:

Technical Expertise:

● Utilize your extensive Ruby on Rails knowledge to design, develop, test, and deploy web applications.

● Oversee code reviews and ensure compliance with best practices and coding standards.

● Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions.

● Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in Ruby on Rails and React.js.

React.js Integration:

● Leverage your React.js experience to guide the integration of React.js components and libraries within Ruby on Rails applications.

● Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure seamless interactions between the front-end and back-end.

Team Leadership:

● Coach, and mentor a team of Ruby on Rails developers.

● Foster a collaborative and productive work environment

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to gather and refine project requirements.

● Translate technical concepts effectively for non-technical team members.

● Coordinate efforts with other teams to facilitate system integration and API utilization.

Requirements

● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

● A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in Ruby on Rails development.

● Proficiency in React.js with demonstrated 1 year of experience in building web applications using this technology.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

● Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

● Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git) and project management tools.

● Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.

Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work during US hours (India Night Shift hours) at least till 6 pm ET is essential for this role.
  • Candidates must have their own system/work setup for remote work.
