Market Research Analyst

ASU Enterprise Partners is an efficient network of highly skilled teams; it is comprised of a full complement of professional services that work in concert with specialized business units to provide full resources and extend Arizona State University’s ability to achieve its charter  

The Market Research Analyst at ASU Enterprise Partners (ASUEP) is responsible for supporting the market research function of the Strategic Insights and Planning by performing the essential tasks needed to support research projects, project management, and to inform strategic marketing initiatives. This role will assist in gathering information to guide new insights and will collaborate with functional experts to ensure research, data analysis, and reporting or model development activities will yield actionable results. The ideal candidate for this role will have a thorough attention to detail and expert organizational skills. The Market Research Analyst understands how to deliver value by working collaboratively to uncover and communicate key insights, context, and actionable strategies gleaned from research projects.

What you’ll do: 
  • Supports market research efforts in partnership with ASUEP, Arizona State University, and other entities and affiliates

  • Acts in a project manager capacity supporting project management efforts as it pertains to the market research function

  • Manages the strategy and execution of email survey communications, including developing audience engagement improvements and reporting on engagement metrics

  • Manages internal audience lists used for surveys; develops targeting and segmentation strategies to reduce survey fatigue

  • Acts as a liaison with external research providers ensuring research is conducted on budget and to schedule

  • Clearly communicates project status, scope, and/or timeline changes to project stakeholders

  • Contributes to the scoping and production of primary market research studies and reports that will inform market transformation strategy, from problem definition to delivery of research assets and reporting of findings

  • Assists in designing, planning, and conducting primary and secondary qualitative and quantitative research used to gather data that will inform strategies

  • Responsible for the analysis of data from interviews, focus groups, questionnaires, or other qualitative or quantitative research used to build compelling insights and data visualizations

  • Collaborates with project stakeholders and research partners to design consumer questionnaires ensuring research objectives are met and insights gleaned from questions are informative

  • Consults with external teams, providing expertise in selecting research methodologies, devising sampling, and interpreting statistical analysis

  • Establishes systems, processes, and templates to support the knowledge dissemination of research findings, including but not limited to client follow-up, dashboards, and reports

  • Assists in managing external research partner relationships through frequent communication, tracking the request for proposal (RFP) process, archiving statement of works’ (SOW), analyzing capabilities, and understanding customer service needs

  • Identifies general methods needed to inform business questions (e.g., data analysis, primary research, statistical modeling, secondary information) and leverage subject matter experts (internal or external) to execute specified projects

  • Supports the use of external research partners by maintaining the RFP process, tracking vendor capabilities, and developing relationships through professional communication

  • Other duties as assigned  

What you'll need:  
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and statistical methods such as sampling, market segmentation, choice modeling, confidence intervals and extrapolation

  • Knowledge of market research analytics software, including SPSS/R and proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel and/or Google Slides and Sheets

  • Ability to synthesize, analyze, and present research findings in with an emphasis on storytelling and data visualization

  • Basic knowledge of market research data processing and analytics software, including advanced expertise with Excel and creating graphic representations of data

  • Polished verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication styles based on internal or external audience

  • Skill in uncovering meaningful insights, asking second and third level questions to see the patterns behind data to craft expert analysis to be used by partners

  • Ability to explain and promote analytical output to non-technicians in a way that is easily understood

  • Agile and critical thinker who is constantly looking for ways to evolve the capabilities of the team

  • Knowledge of the principles of customer service including but not limited to active listening, acknowledging others, and responding to inquiries in a polite manner

  • Ability to take ownership and resolve concerns as appropriate, while exhibiting professionalism and expertise

  • Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment 

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible 

  • Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving numerous and sometimes competing constituencies

  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects

  • Adept at navigating complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans

Relevant qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Business or a related area with statistics coursework AND

  • 1-2 years of work experience in market research, marketing strategy, or customer insights OR

  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities

Preferred education and experience:
  • Proven success managing research studies
