Our portfolio includes targeted streaming services AMC+, Acorn TV, Shudder, Sundance Now, ALLBLK and HIDIVE; cable networks AMC, BBC AMERICA, IFC, Sundance TV and WE tv; and film distribution labels IFC Films and RLJE Films. The company also operates AMC Studios, our in-house studio, production, and distribution operation behind acclaimed and fan-favorite originals including The Walking Dead Universe and the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and AMC Networks International, our international programming business.

We are currently seeking a Director, Business Operations to join our streaming operations team based in our New York, New York headquarters.

JOB SUMMARY 

This position will play a pivotal role on AMC Entertainment’s Networks and Streaming Products team by managing business operations and planning through a holistic lens of all of our streaming platforms. Reporting to the SVP of Product Strategy & Operations, this will be a new discipline and a new role for AMCN’s teams charged with identifying and executing important projects that help the Networks and Streaming department, and the larger AMCN organization, meet critical business goals. 

 

This role will be highly cross-functional and responsible for driving strategic and operational plans and projects forward that holistically improve business outcomes and change the way we work. The Director of Business Operations must be highly organizational and detail-oriented, creating and adhering to project requirements, schedules, and budgets. They will be a visible partner within the AMCN Entertainment team, ensuring internal and external stakeholder expectations are understood and managed, providing status reports during the implementation of projects, communicating results, and providing teams with the tools and information they need to be successful when project work is turned over. The ability to problem solve and foster collaborative relationships with internal client stakeholders is a critical aspect of this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • At the direction of the SVP, Product Strategy & Operations, drive, project manager, and execute on business planning and strategic processes, creating holistic and standard approaches to cross-functional processes and rhythms 
  • Work with SVP to identify and set requirements for initiatives and projects that will help AMCN hit stated business goals 
  • Lead projects from end to end, creating and adhering to schedules and roadmaps, scopes, budget estimations and implementation plans  
  • Prepare status reports by gathering, analyzing and summarizing relevant information 
  • Respond to escalated issues that may impede project delivery 
  • When necessary, revise project scope, schedule or budget to ensure that requirements can be met 
  • Communicate closely with teams across AMCN’s organization, ensuring necessary updates and information flow through cross-functional stakeholders. Set and manage stakeholder expectations 
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate stakeholder channels 
  • Coordinate the development of user manuals, training materials and other documents to enable successful implementation and turnover of project work to stakeholder groups 
  • Conduct post-project evaluation and post-mortems, identifying successes and misses to build upon in the future 
  • Establish relationships and regular cadences with AMCN leads and team members across departments to understand pain points and issues to evaluate project opportunities that can holistically help the business 
  • Assist SVP in business review process by tracking the most important work happening across teams to drive business goals, status of that work, alignment to plan, and seek feedback to evolve processes or prioritization 
  • Track overall performance to ensure success in hitting KPIs, targets and benchmarks 
  • Assist in P&L management of brands across the streaming portfolio. 
  • Provide overall strategic governance for projects by establishing standards processes and tools for effective project delivery 
  • Evaluate priorities across the Networks and Streaming organization and identify areas for operational improvement to ensure quality and increase efficiency 
  • Create presentation materials for senior executives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred) 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • MBA or PMP certification desirable 
  • 7-10 years of relevant work experience 
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant business operations and/or project management experience in a cross-functional environment; Prior experience in within a content company and/or a DTC environment a plus 
  • Experience overseeing business plans and budget tracking 
  • Deep knowledge of project management tools and best practices 
  • Demonstrated operational excellence with the ability to implement ways of working that allow organizations to build agile operational muscle 
  • Commitment to fostering positive team environments and demonstrated experience in leadership situations 
  • Strong understanding of audiences, content, brand and how the three intersect and influence the other 
  • Solution-oriented, with an ability to course-correct projects that go off-track in the face of pressure 
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills  
  • Team management experience a plus 

The base compensation range for this position is $120,000 to $145,000 commensurate with experience.
