Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

This role is focused on:

  • Leading a team of engineers to deliver frontend Social Media features, with an emphasis on mobile and short-form video creation.
  • Coaching and mentoring your engineers to unlock personal growth and development
  • Collaborating and aligning with various teams throughout Canva to ensure our teams are rowing in the same direction to build the ultimate user experience for the end-to-end social media workflow.

You're probably a match if

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to rally teams
  • Experience in people leadership and coaching of engineers
  • Experience in project management, and have track record of “setting crazy big goals and making them happen”
  • A resilience to change: a strategic approach to changing requirements and competing priorities and the ability to lead others through change.
  • Strong engineering design skills and able to coach others on how to approach complex problems.
  • Proficient in some technologies used in our frontend: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, TypeScript, MobX, etc.

The Social Media Experience team is dedicated to enhancing the Social Media user experience. We continuously enhance the end-to-end flow of creating Social Media content, focusing on user-friendly mobile flows and adding a Canva sparkle to users’ photo and video content.

In the next few months, we will deliver a customer-centric, intuitive and powerful video editing platform that seamlessly integrates with the Canva ecosystem to unlock the full potential of the Visual Suite. This enhanced editing experience will make it far easier for social media users to bring their ideas to life, and create engaging and professional content that stands out.
