About the Role: Associate Underwriter I

As an Associate Underwriter I, you will play a key role in supporting the underwriting process, ensuring that risk assessments align with company protocols and guidelines. You’ll assist with data entry, communicate with partners and policyholders, and help maintain accurate policies while delivering outstanding customer service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicate with agency partners, policyholders, loss payees, and mortgagees via telephone and email, providing accurate billing and coverage information.
  • Conduct outbound calls to agency partners as needed.
  • Manage incoming calls, addressing customer service and billing inquiries with professionalism.
  • Perform data entry, initial analysis, and account setup for underwriting submissions.
  • Process high-volume, time-sensitive transactions such as mortgage updates, mailing address changes, and other simple endorsements accurately.
  • Handle loss run requests for agency partners efficiently.
  • Process returned mail, including sorting, sending notifications to agencies, and documenting policies.
  • Review renewal documents, such as Acord Applications, TRIA Forms, and Diligent Effort Forms, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Send, receive, and process notifications from agency partners promptly.
  • Link documents to policies and categorize them for streamlined workflow management.
  • Assist with other job-related duties as assigned.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: High School diploma or GED required; a college degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience and/or training in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance is desired, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications: 4-40 Customer Service Representative License, 2-20 Property & Casualty License, or Excess and Surplus Lines License.


Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient use of PC and Microsoft applications, especially MS Excel.
  • A professional business acumen and customer-focused approach.
