Job description

Join a pioneering force in the renewable energy landscape, dedicated to transformative utility-scale energy storage initiatives. With robust support from private equity, our organization has quickly amassed over 9GW of projects and is poised for further expansion in this vital sector.

Job Overview: As a Renewables Real Estate Attorney, you will take on a pivotal role in managing legal matters pertaining to the origination, acquisition, and development of renewable projects. You will collaborate closely with various teams—Project Development, Finance, EPC, O&M, and Transmission & Interconnection—to ensure the effective implementation of legal agreements and contribute to the establishment of sustainable infrastructure solutions for the energy grid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert in lease negotiations, land options, purchase agreements, easements, and associated site control agreements for utility-scale renewable projects (solar, wind, and energy storage).
  • Draft, modify, and negotiate all legal land agreements related to renewable projects.
  • Assist the Real Estate team with high-level title, survey, and mineral due diligence processes, including research on land use requirements.
  • Oversee the financial closure of renewable land development purchase and lease transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including external counsel, throughout the land acquisition process and related project financing legal initiatives.

Required Skills

  • In-depth understanding of land title issues, mineral rights, and the project development permitting process.
  • Proven ability to draft and review real estate documents, including purchase/sale agreements, lease terms, and easements.
  • Strong background in land negotiations and commercial real estate transactions.
  • Expertise in site leases, purchase options, and related financial closing activities.
  • Familiarity with the utility-scale renewables development process, including interconnection, permitting, and PPA negotiations is preferred.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of legal experience in large infrastructure land development real estate transactions, preferably in a licensed attorney role within the utility-scale renewables sector; experience at a reputable law firm is highly sought after.
  • Comprehensive understanding of land title matters and the project development permitting process.
  • Proven track record of drafting and reviewing essential real estate documents.

Career Growth Opportunities: By joining our team, you will gain access to significant projects within a rapidly expanding industry, fostering your professional development through collaboration with diverse teams and exposure to high-level legal matters.

Company Culture and Values: Our organization values innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to sustainability, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Compensation and Benefits: We offer a competitive compensation package, including a base salary, an open PTO policy, flexible work hours, and comprehensive health benefits, all within a transparent environment led by dedicated executive leadership focused on advancing renewable energy initiatives.
