Job Overview

Join a forward-thinking organization committed to advancing healthcare services! As a Charge Review Specialist II, you will be integral to ensuring precise billing for intricate service lines. Your specialized knowledge will aid in the capture, documentation, and charging of services in alignment with established policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to timely and precise charge capture procedures for your designated work unit or service line, ensuring uniformity across pertinent areas.
  • Reconcile charges with source documentation to ensure thoroughness and precision, while monitoring adherence to internal standards.
  • Detect billing discrepancies and collaborate with team members to rectify any issues swiftly.
  • Provide guidance and training to personnel involved in billing data entry and charge reconciliation, ensuring that processes are clearly understood and maintained.
  • Generate reports for the Revenue Cycle team to confirm that all charges are accurately captured and reimbursed as necessary.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to enhance systems and mitigate charging errors, while working on the maintenance of clinical charging systems.

Required Skills

  • A solid understanding of healthcare billing principles, charge capture policies, and coding conventions.
  • Competence in recognizing and addressing discrepancies in charging and documentation.
  • Proficiency in utilizing office equipment and automated systems/software.
  • Excellent communication skills to build effective working relationships.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare environment, with a robust background in healthcare charging and coding, or completion of a recognized health information or coding program.
  • Proficient in CPT/HCPCS code assignment, including Evaluation & Management coding guidelines.
  • A high school diploma is required; a college degree is preferred.
