Job description

Overview:

As a Section 508 Specialist, you'll be the driving force behind our commitment to digital accessibility, ensuring all our electronic and information technology (EIT) meets the rigorous standards of the Rehabilitation Act. Your expertise will be pivotal in making our information accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities, transforming the way we operate and communicate. Your impact will align with federal accessibility standards and make a difference.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducting audits and evaluations of digital and electronic information technology to ensure compliance with Section 508 standards
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure EIT accessibility
  • Providing technical support and guidance to developers, designers, and content creators to ensure that all digital content is accessible
  • Reviewing and testing websites, applications, PDFs, documents, and multimedia for accessibility compliance
  • Assisting in the remediation of existing EIT products to meet Section 508 requirements
  • Developing and delivering training programs for staff on Section 508 compliance and accessibility best practices
  • Advocating for accessibility within the organization, promoting awareness and understanding of the importance of accessibility compliance
  • Documenting compliance efforts and maintain records of accessibility audits, evaluations, and remediation efforts
  • Preparing and submitting reports on accessibility compliance to management and stakeholders
  • Staying updated on the latest developments in accessibility standards and technologies
  • Participating in accessibility-related conferences, workshops, and training sessions

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in accessibility compliance, including experience with Section 508 standards
  • Proficiency in accessibility testing tools (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, WAVE), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications)
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
  • Experience working in a government contracting environment is desired
  • Familiarity with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is desired
  • Certification in accessibility (e.g., CPACC, WAS, CPWA) is desired
  • Experience with human-centered design and usability testing is desired

Pay Range (Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors): $ 41.94 - $ 49.15 /Hr.
