Job description

The Pre-Sales Consultant will take on a technical sales role in ETL’s Sales Solutions Department. Supporting the Sales Managers and sales team by assisting with technical queries and customer proposals, as well as training first level support. The role will include discussing technical requirements with customers and preparing proposals. Working as part of a team, under the direction of the Senior Pre-Sales Engineer Manager.


The role entails cultivating and maintaining excellent business relationships with existing and potential customers, alongside technology and cross-functional teams. A pre-sales technician possesses advanced technical knowledge and expertise gained through both technical learning and experience in the industry. The primary purpose of a pre-sales engineer is to provide technical support to the Sales and solutions team. The role requires an ability to create both high and low level RFP/RFI presentations to meet both a customer’s technical and budgetary requirements. TELUS Digital pre-sales engineer is expected to possess expert industry product knowledge in order to fulfill this requirement.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pre-sales technical support to colleagues regarding equipment, SaaS, Cybersecurity, hardware, or service configurations and functionality. Liaise directly with customers or prospective customers in relation to these matters.
  • Perform a technical lead role in reviewing and responding to RFP/RFI documents.
  • Write technical specifications and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Attend Ireland/European customer meetings to deliver technical content and presentations.
  • Conduct and take responsibility for the technical verification and sign off of solution design, configuration, interoperability, and delivery cost assessment.
  • Have an understanding of how voice and data communication equipment, hardware, and services work, and be equipped with knowledge to design around common requests like redundancy resiliency.
  • Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
  • Perform any other / or additional duties as dictated by the needs of the business.
  • Communicate directly with international customers to understand and interpret technical requirements and agree on solutions.
  • Interpret customer requirements into product specifications at the pre-sales stage of proposals (in conjunction with the engineering team).
  • Provide pre-sales technical assistance, product education, and 1st line support services.
  • Provide first-level technical support to address customer queries for delivered technology requirements.
  • Responsibility for technical descriptions of products in data sheets, Cloud services, SaaS Telephony systems, AI Technologies, and quotations; and managing these descriptions.
  • Liaison between ETL/SLT sales and engineering teams for technical evolutions / new products to give briefing to engineers once an opportunity has been received.
  • Support for sales and solutions on customer demos if required.
  • Making technical presentations and demonstrating how a product meets client needs.
  • Responsible for technical (engineering) assistance for the ETL/SLT Sales team and IT Leadership.
  • Analysis of customer specifications /requirements (where stated) and completion of compliance matrices as part of proposals (in conjunction with the engineering team).
  • Working alongside Sales Managers, Solutions, IT Project Management, Business Analysts, and Engineer management to ensure timely response and follow-up for complex inquiries / RFI’s/RFP’s.
  • Ireland/European travel for customer visits and trade shows when required.


The ideal candidate for the Technology Pre-Sales Engineer position will possess the following competencies:

  • 3+ years in Contact Center/Business Process Outsourcing Proficient Level Ireland/European languages
  • Strong writing skills
  • Capacity to work globally if needed
  • Proficient level understanding of Salesforce, ServiceNow, and topologies
  • Ability to be an advisor to IT/Ops/Eng
  • Capacity to work on multiple RFP’s/RFI’s with overlapping timelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with great attention to detail
  • Ability to influence leadership and clients to create change for the greater good
