Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and committed Sign Language Interpreter Teacher to join our dynamic educational team for the remainder of the academic year. This fully remote position offers the chance to provide vital instructional support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, fostering their success in a virtual learning environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide sign language interpretation during online classes, meetings, and various educational activities.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and other educational staff to address the communication and learning needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Modify and adapt teaching materials and instructional strategies to ensure accessibility and inclusivity for all students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to students, parents, and educators.
  • Maintain precise records, including attendance, student achievements, and interpretation activities.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with a comprehensive understanding of deaf culture and communication techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Comfort with utilizing technology for remote teaching and learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Sign Language Interpretation, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or an equivalent credential.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting, particularly with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, is preferred.
  • Must possess an active teaching or interpreting license in the state of Virginia.
