Job description

Engineering Manager

Who we are

We’re doxy.me (doc-see-me), the world's most loved telemedicine solution, and we're on a mission to connect the world to the future of healthcare.

We believe that cost and complexity should never be a barrier to telemedicine. That’s why we created a simple, free, and secure telemedicine platform. Since 2013, we’ve grown to more than 1 million healthcare providers from 180+ countries who have clocked over 8 billion minutes of telemedicine sessions to date.

Our goal is to deliver the future of healthcare to every patient and healthcare professional on earth. Help us get there by joining our team of innovators, dreamers, and doers.

We’re a remote-first company with regional hubs for in-person collaboration (Austin, TX, Boston, MA, Charleston, SC, Salt Lake City, UT & London, UK).

Who you are

We’re seeking an Engineering Manager passionate about driving fast, pragmatic technical decision-making whilst ensuring technical excellence and fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusivity across geographically diverse cultural backgrounds. You’ll lead two talented engineering teams who, in turn, are responsible for developing critical product enablement services using a GraphQL-based cloud architecture. You’ll help shape our technology strategy, ensuring it aligns with our mission and business objectives.

What you’ll do

  • Leadership: Inspire, mentor, and guide two engineering teams, fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and excellence.

  • Technical Direction: Provide hands-on technical leadership in backend API architecture, with a focus on GraphQL, integrations (e.g., Stripe, authentication providers), RBAC, and other core services.

  • SDK Development: Oversee the development of robust SDKs that allow third-party developers or services to integrate with our platform effectively and safely, maintaining the integrity of our core product.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to ensure alignment and smooth delivery.

  • Decision-Making: Drive fast and focused decision-making, ensuring the team stays on track and prioritises what matters most.

  • Quality & Reliability: Champion best practices in software development, code quality, testing, and continuous integration to maintain a high standard of delivery.

Your skills and experience

  • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead, ideally with experience leading teams across different cultures and geographies.

  • Strong background in backend API development, particularly with GraphQL.

  • Experience with third-party integrations (e.g., Stripe, identity providers) and implementing authentication & authorisation technologies.

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.

  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to provide hands-on guidance when necessary.

  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas clearly and effectively.

  • Pragmatic and focused, able to make decisions quickly to keep the team moving forward.

  • Demonstrable experience in building SDKs for third-party developer integration.

  • Previous experience in telemedicine or healthcare technology is a plus.

  • Passionate about telemedicine and improving access to healthcare.
