Overview:

AVIAN is seeking a Senior Portfolio Manager to support the Volpe Center in Cambridge, MA. This role oversees a multifaceted communication program and requires expertise in project management, leadership, and coordination, along with an excellent creative vision. You will lead a cadre of highly talented communication professionals, multimedia designers, and training developers, overseeing projects from conceptualization to delivery. You are the glue that hold each project together, ensuring each product is delivered on schedule, meets all quality standards, and exceeds customer expectations. You play a critical role in maintaining customer relationships and fostering team success. Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management: Manage integrated communications, learning and training program portfolio in support of FMCSA programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives. Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines.
• Customer Engagement: Meet regularly with government program managers to discuss performance, propose initiatives and establish priorities
• Products: Head development of strategic, integrated product and service strategy. Ensure AVIAN standard of quality is reflected in all products and services, which may include providing creative direction, internal review of products, and proofreading.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor and support team members. Manage resources and cross-functional team communication during development. Focus on continual improvement in processes and team performance
• Budget Management: Manage project budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Risk Assessment: Identify a potential risks, challenges, and opportunities associated with projects and/or portfolio planning. Effectively resolve and/or escalate issues.
• Reporting and Documentation: Regularly prepare detailed status and financial reports, presentations, and documentation as necessary to effectively communicate portfolio status.

Qualifications:
  • 10 years of experience creative program management, including task management and communication or training development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communication, graphic design, instructional design or a related field.
  • Experience quickly and effectively managing and executing evolving program priorities.
  • Ability managing and delivering multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Proficiency tracking/analyzing financial data and managing/manipulating spreadsheets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator. Ability to develop strategic communication and technical documentation is a plus.
  • Proficiency with commercial software packages, to include at a minimum Microsoft Office (specifically, Word, Power Point, Project, Outlook and Excel) and SharePoint. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Articulate 360 a plus.
  • Experience leading projects/creating products within DOT or government agency is preferred.  
  • Remote position, proximity to Cambridge, MA a plus.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • The salary range for this role is $130,000-$145,00
