Position Summary:
We are looking for a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Layout Specialist to join our engineering team and to build on our successful line of power products. This individual will help design and develop PCBs for industrial battery chargers, inverters, and supporting accessories across a wide power range (150W to 100kW) in support of critical power applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Layout digital, analog, high power, and mixed signal circuit boards (PCB) using Altium Designer.
- Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure seamless integration of PCB designs into final products.
- Create and implement PCB design rules and spacings to ensure proper operation and compliance with IPC, Safety, and EMC standards.
- Generate PCB documentation for manufacturing such as Fabrication drawings, Assembly drawings, Gerber files, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Create schematic symbols, layout patterns, and manage the PCB parts library and database.
- Work with PCB vendors to select proper material, stack-up, and impedance rules.
- Work with contract manufacturers to resolve DFM issues.
- Perform thorough design reviews to ensure compliance with industry and company standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years PCB Layout experience using Altium Designer.
- Experience with reading schematics and placing parts for low parasitic capacitance and inductance.
- Familiarity with power electronics layout and high voltage circuit board creepage and clearance requirements.
- Understanding of layout practices to mitigate EMC/EMI issues.
- Knowledge of PC track widths and copper weights needed when considering current and temperature of operation of the PCB.
- Flexible team player who actively establishes and maintains effective working relationships and who is willing to help wherever needed.
Location: This position is primarily an onsite role in Longmont, CO, with partial remote work available.
Base Compensation: $85,000-$105,000 is the projected range of annual base salary for this role depending on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience. This role is eligible for sales commission compensation as well.
