Join our team at PostJobMatches By WorkStaff USA, a leading staffing agency dedicated to delivering top-notch professionals across the country. We are currently seeking three Coding Specialist candidates for a Health Information Management opportunity.

This position focuses on Facility IP coding and requires prior experience at a Level II Trauma center, along with proficiency in coding across all discharge departments. The main objective is to accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic/procedure PCS codes for clinical encounters, in compliance with regulatory and CMS Official Guidelines. Please note that this position is fully remote, except for candidates located in CA, NY, NJ, CO, OR, and HI.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intermediate Clinical inpatient support through the HIM department.
  • Complete coding assignments for various inpatient admissions, including but not limited to: Postpartum, Newborn, NICU, Cardiac ICU, Ortho, Nephrology, and Neurosciences.
  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes by translating diagnostic statements, physician orders, and other documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to CMS’ Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
  • Identify appropriate charges based on documentation and coding guidelines, taking steps to clarify vague or ambiguous orders as necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with HIM coding policies and apply AHA Official Coding Guidelines.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives as assigned and consistently meet productivity and quality standards.

Skills And Certifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience required.
  • Experience in acute care facility and/or Trauma Level II coding preferred.
  • AAPC, AHIMA, or Certified Coding credential required (apprenticeship classification excluded).
  • Familiarity with CPT Assistant and HCPCS coding manuals.
