Job Overview

Join PostJobMatches By WorkStaff USA, a distinguished staffing agency renowned for connecting exceptional professionals with healthcare facilities nationwide. We are currently in search of three accomplished Coding Specialists for a pivotal role in Health Information Management. This fully remote position is open to candidates residing outside of CA, NY, NJ, CO, OR, and HI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic/procedure PCS codes aligned with regulatory standards and CMS Official Guidelines, ensuring optimal reimbursement.
  • Provide vital support to the Health Information Management department by completing coding assignments for inpatient admissions across various discharge departments, including but not limited to Postpartum, Newborn, and Cardiac ICU.
  • Collaborate effectively with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) teams to enhance coding accuracy through appropriate queries.
  • Maintain adherence to Health Information Management (HIM) coding policies and The Joint Commission (TJC) documentation guidelines, continuously improving coding quality.
  • Interpret and apply AHA Official Coding Guidelines for principal and secondary diagnoses, ensuring comprehensive and accurate reporting.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives, consistently meeting or surpassing departmental productivity and quality standards.

Required Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive inpatient coding experience is essential.
  • Familiarity with coding in an acute care facility and/or Trauma Level II setting is highly advantageous.
  • Strong capabilities in translating diagnostic statements and physician orders, ensuring precise coding.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a solid understanding of coding compliance and documentation requirements.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with HIM staff and clarify ambiguities in documentation.
  • Certification from recognized organizations such as AAPC or AHIMA is mandatory.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of inpatient coding experience required.
  • Proven expertise in specialty areas such as Recurring Wound Care, Home Health, and Hospice is a plus.
  • Valid coding certification (AAPC, AHIMA) is required, excluding apprenticeship classifications.
