Equipment Specialist - Remote

Job Overview:

The Equipment Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating pricing and service level agreements for assigned equipment categories that generate sales between $6M to $9M. This position will serve as a subject matter expert who will consult with independent grocery retailers and store design planners on the best equipment application to improve operational efficiencies and reduce life cycle costs. This position is responsible for driving equipment sales, profitability, contract compliance, data integrity and supplier performance for assigned categories. This role is part of the UNFI Store Design & Equipment team that works with independent grocery retailers throughout the US and Internationally on equipment needs for replacement or for remodel and new store projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

• Consult with retailers, store planners, Account Managers and UNFI equipment support team on specifications, bidding and quoting utilizing UNFI procurement tool.
• Develop strategies to achieve the sales and profit goals for assigned equipment categories utilizing strategic sourcing processes, contract negotiations, vendor performance reviews and equipment promotions.
• Update and maintain item description, specification sheets, pricing, optional accessories, and vendor information in the procurement database.
• Facilitate educational meetings with internal teams regarding new equipment or programs as well as attend new equipment educational seminars or demos.
• Assist with problem resolution regarding equipment application or vendor performance issues while preserving vendor & customer relationships.
• Promote equipment buying programs and drive sales through promotional sell sheets and/or other marketing initiatives.
• Develop and manage strategic vendor partnerships that bring a competitive advantage to the business.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  
  

Experience:

• Minimum 3+ years relevant work experience in capital equipment procurement, sourcing, or contract negotiation
  
  

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities

• Grocery retail industry knowledge preferred with an emphasis on interior environment and emerging technologies.
• Store Design knowledge preferred, including an understanding of lighting design.
• Understanding of strategic sourcing practices
  
  

Work Environment:

Remote Role:

• This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

• This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.
