Job Overview

Join PostJobMatches By WorkStaff USA, a reputable staffing agency recognized for excellence in job placement across the healthcare sector. We are currently seeking three talented Coding Specialists to support our Health Information Management team. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to contribute to a leading organization in the industry while working from the comfort of your home, provided you reside outside CA, NY, NJ, CO, OR, and HI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic and procedure codes in alignment with CMS Official Guidelines during clinical encounters.
  • Provide critical inpatient coding support across various discharge departments, including but not limited to Postpartum, Newborn, Cardiac ICU, and Inpatient Rehab.
  • Collaborate with Health Information Management (HIM) leadership to ensure all coding assignments are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain compliance with coding policies, American Hospital Association (AHA) guidelines, and The Joint Commission (TJC) documentation standards to enhance coding quality.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives as required and consistently meet productivity and quality benchmarks.
  • Engage with HIM staff to clarify ambiguous documentation or incomplete orders, ensuring accurate coding practices.

Required Skills

  • A minimum of five years of inpatient coding experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in coding for a Trauma Level II facility and experience with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) practices is preferred.
  • Certification from AAPC or AHIMA, excluding apprenticeship classifications, is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, including CPT Assistant and HCPCS coding manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills and adept problem-solving abilities are crucial for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant inpatient coding experience.
  • Established coding certification (AAPC, AHIMA) is mandatory.
  • Experience in specialty areas such as Recurring Wound Care or Inpatient Rehabilitation is advantageous.
