Job description

Advocates for Human Potential (AHP) is seeking an organized, detail-oriented proposal management professional to support AHP’s proposal development efforts. Under the supervision of the Proposal Development Manager, and as part of a team of proposal managers, the Proposal Manger oversees all activities related to proposal responses from pre-solicitation to post-submission activities, participates in the ongoing development of and improvements to the proposal process, and supports projects and collaborates with colleagues across an array of initiatives within the Proposal Development unit and across the company.

AHP (www.ahpnet.com) is a consulting and research firm specializing in health and behavioral health, offering technical assistance and training, system and program development, resource development and dissemination, and research and evaluation. Our core content areas include mental health policy and services, substance use disorder treatment and prevention, co-occurring disorders, workforce development, eHealth, homelessness, housing and employment programs, trauma, domestic violence, criminal justice, and public health.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and lead proposal meetings, including kickoffs, reviews, debriefs
  • Create proposal artifacts including outlines, templates, components lists
  • Analyze request for proposals (RFP)/bid requirements against the proposal outline to ensure both compliance and responsiveness
  • Facilitate writing and editing efforts, including assigning responsibilities to writers and internal subject matter experts and writing sections of proposals, as needed
  • Coordinate other proposal production needs, including working with graphic design team, copyeditors, finance department
  • Review all proposal sections to ensure requirements are adequately and appropriately addressed and within page limits
  • Conduct regular proposal progress status meetings and maintain the proposal schedule
  • Produce and submit proposals on time through multiple vehicles including online portals, emailed responses, printed volumes
  • Assume full responsibility for the integrity and completeness of proposals managed
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Proposal Development team to improve existing tools and processes for proposal development and help train other staff on proposal development tools and methodologies
  • Engage in other reasonable and normal duties associated with the Proposal Development team

Qualifications

  • Capacity to develop and prepare winning proposals in response to federal, state, municipality, corporate, and foundation solicitations
  • Ability to quickly pick up on business priorities and organizational processes
  • Ability to both work independently and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisor, technical staff, partners, and clients
  • Excellent research skills and the ability to effectively gather information needed from files, team members, and staff members, including senior staff
  • Adeptness in assigning responsibility for tasks and decisions and the capability to set clear objectives and measures
  • Aptitude to organize and prioritize work while juggling multiple projects with tight and competing deadlines
  • Knowledge of and interest in health, behavioral health, and human services topics and issues
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint; experience with Freshsales preferred
  • Willingness to work occasional “extra” and/or unusual hours during crunch periods
  • Shipley training/experience using Shipley proposal management methods preferred

Salary Range: $80,000 - $105,000

AHP, in an effort to be transparent with applicants about salary and in compliance with various state pay disclosure requirements, publishes the following information which is current as of the date of posting. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the AHP salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be high or low in the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. The range listed is just one component of AHP’s total compensation package for employees.
