Job Summary: The Cash Posting Specialist reports to the Cash Applications Supervisor. Post patient/guarantor and insurance payments and adjustments accurately and timely per posting policies and procedures. Reconciles posting files to deposits prior to posting processes. Accurately and timely completion of assigned WQ's. Prompt reporting to leadership of all identified posting issues for timely resolution. Performs payment research will be required daily during posting batch review and departmental requests. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Training, Research, Reports - Assists Cash Applications leadership with weekly/monthly reports, forms, and other items as needed. - Research items in imaging system (i.e. EOBs, check copies) for team members when image cannot be located. - Assists in training Cash Applications team members as needed. - Special projects and assignments. - Assist Cash Applications leadership with policy, procedure, and job aid revisions. Accurate and timely completion of assigned EPIC WQs, payment posting, and research. - Meet individual and team productivity standards, targets, error ratios, and reporting requirements as assigned by leadership. - Provide individual contribution to the overall team effort of achieving the department Key Performance Indicators. - Reconcile payment posting files with deposits prior to completing the payment posting processes. - Prompt reporting of any identified payment posting related issue to Cash Applications leadership. Other duties as assigned - Follow the WellStar general Policies and Procedures, the Departments Policies and Procedures, and the Emergency Preparedness Procedures. - Demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA privacy standards and ensure compliance with system PHI privacy practices. - Follow JACHO and outside regulatory agencies mandated rules and procedures. - Demonstrate proficient use of systems and execution of processes in all areas of responsibilities. - Identify opportunities for system and process improvement and submit to leadership. - Utilize assigned menus and pathways in the hospital mainframe system and report software application problems to the appropriate supervisor. - Utilize assigned menus and pathways in foreign software applications and report software application problems to the appropriate supervisor. - Utilize assigned computer hardware and report hardware problems to the appropriate supervisor. - Participate in the testing for assigned software applications, including verification of field integrity. - Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required Minimum Education: High School Graduate Required Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
    Additional License(s) and Certification(s): Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 2 years healthcare payment posting experience Required or EFT deposit and ERA file processing. Required Required Minimum Skills: Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Basic experience and knowledge of PC applications. Detailed-oriented, good organizational skills, and ability to be self-directed. Strong time management skills, managing multiple priorities and a heavy workload in a high-stress atmosphere. Flexibility to perform other tasks as needed in an active work environment with changing work needs. High-level problem solving, analytical, and investigational skills. Excellent internal/external customer service skills. Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension and expression.
