About the Position

This is a highly visible, high-impact role in which you’ll have a lot of say on what happens on product features from early brainstorming to how we implement features. As a key member of the web engineering team, you will lead the architectural direction of all TuneIn web products.

What You’ll Do

Lead the design and architecture of complex web applications, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, translating requirements between Product, Design, and Platform teams.
Contribute to code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices in code quality and performance, even when reviewing code with minimal context.
Drive improvements to the codebase, continuously refactoring and modernizing the technology stack.
Stay ahead of modern web technologies, researching and recommending library upgrades and optimizations.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering growth within the team.
Work with performance optimizations, focusing on areas like image optimization, lazy loading, and enhancing page load times.
Navigate external integrations, such as ad SDKs (e.g., DFP, Adswizz) and other third-party APIs.
Ensure the reliability of multimedia streaming across multiple web-based distributions.

Who You Are

The Ideal Candidate will have

10+ years of experience designing, building, and scaling complex web applications.
Expert in modern JavaScript (ES6+), including advanced language features and asynchronous programming.
Strong proficiency in React and Node.js
Adept architectural mindset, with experience owning large-scale web application architecture and design decisions.
Proficient in full-stack development, including designing APIs.
Experience guiding cross-team initiatives, influencing technical projects across multiple teams.
Comfortable collaborating with stakeholders, translating technical needs and priorities between teams.
Familiarity with modern build pipelines, such as Webpack, Vite, Bun, and Biome.
A proven mentor who enjoys leading, teaching, and facilitating architectural discussions and code reviews.

Nice to Haves

While not required, there are some skills we highly value:

Experience with multimedia streaming and technologies like the Native Web Audio API and hls.js.
Familiarity with GraphQL and its ecosystem.
Knowledge of modern React libraries, such as Zustand, and experience with frameworks like Next.js.
Understanding of building multi-application flexible component libraries with libraries like Radix.
