PDQ Workholding & Tooling is a modern tool shop focusing on the design and manufacture of part holding devices. Our core specialty is hydraulically-actuated machining center fixtures.
Responsibility: Accuracy of the designs of complex cutting tools including special indexable, solid carbide, and brazed PCD tooling. Possible remote/hybrid position.
Job Duties
• Develop the optimum method of machining customer parts with internally manufactured tools. Designs must be sound, accurate and completed in a timely manner.
• Be very detail oriented to ensure that all designs are accurate by checking completed projects for functionality.
• Fill out project log forms accurately.
• Contact customers for spec./open issues/questions.
• Set-up/conduct customer approval meetings.
• Vendor contact as required.
• Develop/track/complete projects per mutually planned Gannt chart.
• Pre-release/pre-order long lead items as required.
• Complete weekly project update forms.
• Troubleshooting/solving mechanical and tooling problems.
• Monitor the project through the build cycle with shop personnel.
• Complete all other job-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years of tool designing experience or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of CAD experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred but not required
• Custom tooling and machining knowledge.
• Must be capable of the proper selection and application of all components for use in complex tooling systems
• Excellent communication, organizational, and housekeeping skills
