Description

Vistra seeks an experienced Writer to provide technical writing services to the Department of Defense’s (DOD) Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (OUSD P&R) and the Defense Suicide Prevention Office (DSPO). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing and document design.


 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Professional Correspondence: Develop, coordinate, and execute professional correspondence, including information papers, presentations, technical reports, briefing slides, briefing cards, and other routine communication materials. 
  • Provide research and content to be used in drafting, editing, publishing, and distribution of materials. 
  • Conduct research and ensure provided content to be used in drafting, editing, publishing, and distribution of materials is accurate and current. 
  • Provide professional technical information to DSPO that it might use for reports, policy, guidance memorandums, and testimony. 
  • Professional Correspondence: Gather and consolidate input from government staff that DSPO will use in the preparation of professional correspondence to the White House, Congress, DoD and other federal agencies, as well as nongovernmental stakeholders. 
  • These typically involve suicide prevention inquiries, research-related issues, data requests, analysis, briefing creation and delivery, and consultation on projects performed by and for DSPO. 
  • Information Papers and Other Reports: Develop information papers and other written reports to support DSPO briefings, engagements, and taskers.

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience 
  • Skills and Competencies: 
  • Strong writing skills and document design and layout. 
  • Familiarity with DOD, Congress, and the Interagency.
