A DAY IN THE LIFE

As a Senior Process Engineer, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Learn and understand the highly technical product that ECT2 is delivering to our customers.
  • Responsible for applications design, process equipment sizing and selection, performing design basis calculations and conceptual system costing of innovative water and air treatment systems.
  • Prepare process flow diagrams, mass balances, P&IDs, engineering reports, engineering calculations, design basis summaries, proposals, cost estimates, kinetic and capacity modeling, general arrangement drawings.
  • Responsible to update and improve proprietary process modeling approaches for ECT2’s patented water treatment systems. Perform and develop standard calculation approaches for process design.
  • Assist in identifying technical issues and approaches for evaluation.
  • Provide clear direction on process requirements for the design team to use for final detailed design and fabrication.
  • Prepare detailed process and mechanical designs, including plans and specifications for water (including groundwater, stormwater, surface water and drinking water) and vapor treatment projects. More specific responsibilities include establishing appropriate design methods, conducting engineering and process design, equipment sizing and selection, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, and design deliverable preparation.
  • Periodically be available for onsite pilot testing and various field work duties, including system start-up, commissioning and troubleshooting. And be available to support realtime from office where these activities are undertaken by in field personnel.
  • Be an integral part of our safety culture, approaching all aspects of work with a safety-first attitude.
  • Perform pilot, construction, fabrication and start-up oversight with our partner fabrication shops and customers’ contractors; sees their design vision through to completion and function.
  • Edit and interpret system data to improve system design and operations.
  • Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
  • Review and interpret regulations related to design and installation.
  • Availability to travel 20% of the time, domestically and internationally.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or environmental engineering or related field
  • 7+ years professional experience in process engineering, focused in the environmental remediation/water/air treatment space
  • Possess a strong chemical/mechanical education, i.e. water chemistry, process engineering, heat transfer, fluids, thermodynamics, strength of materials, material sciences
  • Have experience with the design of water treatment equipment involving ion exchange, adsorption, filtration, boilers, cooling systems, heat exchangers, and automated control systems
  • Possess strong technical writing skills
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation to travel to job sites and the office
