PostJobMatches By WorkStaff USA is a leading staffing agency dedicated to providing top-notch professionals to facilities across the country. We are currently seeking (3) Coding Specialist candidates for a Health Information Management opportunity. This role is designated for Facility IP coders with experience at a Level II Trauma center. Candidates must be proficient in coding across all discharge departments and have substantial experience with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI).

The primary objective of this position is to accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic/procedure PCS codes for clinical encounters in line with regulatory and CMS Official Guidelines to ensure correct reimbursement. This role is fully remote for candidates residing outside of CA, NY, NJ, CO, OR, and HI.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intermediate clinical inpatient support through the Health Information Management department.
  • Collaborate with Health Information Management leadership to complete coding assignments for various inpatient admissions from departments such as Postpartum, Newborn, NICU, Cardiac ICU, Ortho, and more.
  • Ensure adherence to CMS’ Official Guidelines for coding and reporting.
  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes by translating diagnostic statements and physician orders.
  • Identify appropriate charges based on documentation and coding guidelines.
  • Work with HIM staff to clarify documentation shortcomings.
  • Interpret and apply AHA Official Coding Guidelines for principal and secondary diagnoses.
  • Maintain coding certification and stay informed on current ICD-10-CM coding guidelines.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Consistently meet or exceed productivity and quality standards as set by department leadership.

Skills And Certifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience is required.
  • Experience in acute care facility and/or Trauma Level II coding preferred.
  • AAPC, AHIMA, or relevant Certified Coding credential required (excludes apprenticeship classification).
