Description

Join a leading staffing agency as we search for qualified Coding Specialists for opportunities in Health Information Management. This position entails remote work for candidates located in most states, excluding CA, NY, NJ, CO, OR, and HI. The role focuses on accurately assigning ICD-10-CM diagnostic/procedure PCS codes for clinical encounters in compliance with regulatory standards.

You will provide intermediate clinical inpatient support and collaborate with the Health Information Management leadership to fulfill coding assignments for various inpatient admissions across multiple discharge departments including Postpartum, Newborn, Cardiac ICU, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with CMS’ Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
  • Proficiently translate diagnostic statements, physician orders, and documentation for accurate ICD-10-CM coding.
  • Collaborate with HIM staff to clarify documentation or orders that are incomplete or vague.
  • Adhere to Health Information Management coding policies and American Hospital Association Coding Guidelines.
  • Maintain coding certification and stay updated on ICD-10-CM coding guidelines.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and consistently meet productivity and quality standards.

Skills And Certifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience required.
  • Experience in acute care and/or Trauma Level II coding preferred.
  • Certification from AAPC, AHIMA, or similar (excludes apprenticeship).
