Job description

About Loyal

Loyal is a clinical-stage veterinary medicine company developing drugs intended to extend the lifespan and healthspan of dogs. Our mission is to help dogs live longer, healthier lives.

We’ve already achieved significant milestones on our path to earning FDA approval for the first lifespan extension drug for any species. We have three products in our pipeline and are on track to bring the first product to market in 2025.

Loyal is a well-funded startup in growth mode. Our team includes scientists, veterinarians, engineers, operators, and creatives. This role will play a key role in supporting our growth strategies.

About the role

We’re seeking an experienced S/VP of Marketing, Consumer to develop and execute comprehensive consumer marketing strategies to drive customer acquisition, retention, and engagement and commercial and product innovation initiatives for our LOY-002 product.

You will be reporting to our CEO - Celine Halioua.

Your daily work will include:
  • Leading the strategy and execution of our consumer marketing - how do we get dog owners to ask their veterinarians for Loyal?
  • Lead the creation of a new market category - dog longevity drugs!
  • Build and support a top tier team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful implementation of marketing plans and a healthy, happy, efficient, and effective team.
  • You will work together with an extremely cross-functional team - including veterinarians, scientists, creatives, and operators.
  •  Lead market research to understand consumer trends, insights, challenges, and opportunities, and translate them into actionable marketing strategies for LOY-002.
  • Lead our marketing investment strategy - how we think about and execute on digital marketing, social media, email marketing, content marketing, traditional advertising and other channels.
  • Drive brand awareness for a relatively young company.
  • Support our creative team in ensuring all aspects of the customer experience, including drug label, packaging and design are simple, intuitive, and beautiful.
  • Lead the external communications team and our earned media strategy (this will be a significant channel)
  • Monitor and analyze marketing campaign performance, track KPIs, and make data-driven decisions to optimize marketing efforts and maximize ROI.
  • Manage marketing team budget, allocate resources effectively, and ensure cost-effective marketing campaigns. This is unlikely to be a high budget team in the first year(s) - we are a startup!
  • Effectively lead and manage external partners (PR firms, vendors, etc.)
About you:
  • Previous leadership in consumer marketing for B2B/B2B2C companies
  • Great taste and intuition for modern, loved brands
  • Ideally, you have experience consumer marketing in health and/or regulated industries (dentistry, veterinary, human health, diagnostics, etc)
  • 0 → 1 experience: you should have played a significant role in launching a brand/product/category
  • Ideally, previous experience in a startup and reporting to a Founder/CEO
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a history of building and developing high-performing teams. You should love people management.
  • Willingness and excitement to both get work done by doing it yourself, and by leading others.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset, with the ability to interpret and translate data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability and desire to work in a startup environment - fast-paced, high-growth, not a mature organization will all the support functions you may be used to. You are excited to help build a company in addition to building marketing.
  • You should be mission motivated and aligned
Loyal benefits:
  • Full-coverage health insurance — medical, dental and vision — for you and your dependents
  • $1,000 home office equipment stipend
  • $1,200/year learning budget for books, courses, etc.
  • $250/month wellness budget for gym, cleaners, spa, food, etc.
  • All 3-day weekends are turned into 4-day weekends 🎉
  • Unlimited vacation and paid holidays
  • Paw-ternity leave — adopt a dog and get a day off with your new family member 🐶
  • Annual company retreat at beautiful locations across the country (recently: Tahoe, Cape Cod)
  • Competitive salary
  • Company equity options grant for new hires
