Job description

Full Fact Services is looking for an experienced Learning and Development professional to join as a board member and act as a subject matter expert to help guide, oversee, and support Full Fact’s commercial training work.

At Full Fact we believe that bad information ruins lives. It promotes hate, damages people’s health, and hurts democracy. This is an opportunity to help guide the commercial wing of a charity that has helped millions of people access good, clear information at a time of global disruption

Full Fact’s work has an impact. We have seen corrections from the Prime Minister and other senior politicians, newspapers, and broadcasters. We have seen government departments and national media outlets change how they work. Our team has worked with the BBC, ITV, and Sky; Facebook and Google; the Office for National Statistics and leading universities. All of this begins with high-quality fact checking on topics that matter to real people.

In the last three years we have taken this hard earned knowledge and turned it into a suite of paid for training courses that we offer to a wide range of clients to help generate income for Full Fact. We are starting to find our product market fit, but with the rapid changes in the information landscape, especially around the use of AI, our small team has been adapting to an ever changing landscape to offer courses on AI, the communication of data, analysing data and the process of fact checking.

We have identified a gap in senior, but practical knowledge of current learning and development market trends. You will be joining a governance group that offers substantial marketing, business and technical knowledge and are now looking for support in helping us cement a syllabus of courses that works for a wide range of clients and can form a reliable income stream for us as a charity. We are especially interested in learning from people with skills in hybrid training that covers front led in person delivery and e-learning knowledge as well as in depth knowledge of market trends, pricing and funding models.

The Board meets virtually four times a year and as a member you will work closely with fellow volunteers and staff to make important decisions about Full Fact’s training work and direction as well as advising and supporting our team in doing the best work possible.

It is vital that Full Fact’s Board overall reflects the diversity of views and experiences in modern political debate. Individual Trustees may be, but are not expected to be, politically impartial and we welcome expressions of interest from anyone who shares our commitment to promoting high quality public debate.

Members are asked to commit to a three year term and our aim is to welcome new members onto the Board by the end of 2024.

To express your interest

Please upload a covering letter explaining your interest and relevant skills and experience, and a CV.
