Job description

Opportunity:

A Proposal Manager’s core duty is to ensure that all of the company’s proposals are fully executed from start to finish. This involves coordinating the proposal process, preparing the actual proposals and presenting them to clients. Proposal Managers often work on tight deadlines and have to manage and delegate tasks required to complete a proposal, such as writing, editing and other efforts associated with the process.

 

An experienced Proposal Manager is critical to the success of leading each phase of proposal development, including:

 

  • Assessing your own proposals like government evaluators do
  • Creating effective proposal strategies
  • Developing compliance checklists
  • Outlining proposals to match government instructions
  • Assigning requirements to appropriate authors for coverage in the proposal
  • Preparing for and conduct an effective kickoff meeting
  • Leading high-performing proposal teams on fast-paced schedules
  • Exploiting knowledge of the selection process to guide interactions with your customer after proposal submittal
  • Creating a complete and comprehensive compliance matrix
  • Drafting an outline based on customer instructions
  • Developing a schedule with critical milestones
  • Assigning tasks to proposal contributors
  • Conducting regular “stand-up” status meetings
  • Facilitating a proposal kickoff meeting
  • Organizing and leading proposal pink, red, gold and white glove team reviews
  • Overseeing production and final proposal submission
  • Planning proposal content using storyboard techniques to be compliant and responsive
  • Incorporating effective graphics and action captions to better communicate messages
  • Organizing proposal content to be persuasive
  • Writing the planned proposal section
  • Examining the content for effectiveness and compliance
Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of experience as a Senior Proposal Manager for federal government proposals, including experience with DOD and IC proposals. 
  • Track record of managing and winning large, complex proposals
  • Ability to coach writers and manage proposal content
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with senior leaders, capture managers, and proposal support teams
  • Has an ownership mentality and is accountable for compliance
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of SharePoint, Shipley Proposal Process, and industry best practices
  • Remote work with occasional travel required for proposal development
  • Proposal Management training and/or APMP Certification desirable
