Position: Pega Developer

Work Location: Fort Collins, CO, Reston, VA, or Remote (near USDA facility)

Summary: ASRC Federal Highland Technology is actively seeking a Pega Developer to join our team and support development efforts for a government client. Position is available in Reston, VA or Fort Collins, CO or Remote (near a USDA facility).

Position Description

The Pega Developer will build software applications on the Pega® platform by following guidance from lead architects and according to Pega guardrails and best practices. Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Integrate Pega applications with external APIs, web services and legacy data sources.
  • Develop user interface (UI) elements following modern UI standards and best practices while satisfying 508 compliance.
  • Follow an object-oriented paradigm and class structure to maximize code reuse and flexibility.
  • Implement fixes for defects discovered by the quality assurance (QA) testing team.
  • Leverage Pega platform features that accelerate the pace of software development.
  • Operate in an Agile software development environment while satisfying the government’s Waterfall-style project stage gates.
  • Interact daily with system and business analysts to clarify requirements.
  • Receive guidance from lead architect on design and implementation tasks to complete.
  • Receive feedback from lead architect on completed tasks, including items requiring correction or improvement.
  • Collaborate among cross-functional technical teams to reconcile new business requirements with the integration of legacy systems.
  • Contribute to technical designs, including detailed data flows and data schemas.
  • Manage tasks using software project tracking tools like codeBeamer, JIRA, or Rational Team Concert.

Requirements

Required Skills And Competencies

The successful candidate will have experience in the following:

  • Exceptional communication skills in English – both written and oral – and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical IT stakeholders
  • Experience in Pega Constellation (8.8, Infinity 23.1 or Infinity 24.1)
  • Experience with BDD and testing frameworks.
  • Expertise in all phases of software development, including design, configuration, testing, debugging, implementation and support of process-based applications.
  • Ability to work in a team environment under the direction of a technical lead
  • Solid Object-Oriented coding experience using Java, Python, C# or C++
  • Experience with web application architectures and Model-View-Controller design pattern
  • Experience with User Interface (UI) code manually reading and writing Javascript, HTML and CSS (specifically HTML5 and CSS3)
  • Strong understanding of relational database design concepts
  • Familiarity with Agile Development Methodology and its best practices.

Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust.

U.S. Citizen or Green Card for 3 years residency

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in any of these technologies including, but not limited to Pega, WebSphere or Weblogic, J2EE(JSP, Servlets, EJB, XML, Java), .Net, Oracle, DB2 and MS/SQL.
  • At least 2 years of specific experience as a Pega SSA.

Desired Skills (preferred, Not Required)

  • Pega CSA/CSSA certification in PEGA 7.X or 8.X.
  • Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
  • Experience working in a cloud environment (Pega Cloud, AWS, Google, or Azure)
  • Experience integrating with GIS maps and features
  • Experience working in a federal government IT environment
