Your role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Innovation Regulatory Specialist interested in further developing and driving our growth of
health active ingredients for dietary supplements and functional food and beverage. The role plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance of our products, services and innovation efforts with the regulatory framework governing dietary supplements and functional foods and beverages in North America.
This role will be able to work 100 percent remote.
Your primary responsibilities will include educating internal teams and external customers on regulatory requirements, serving as a consultant for customers launching new products, and guiding them through critical phases of our brief to contract process. The role will collaborate closely with the product innovation teams (both regional as well as global), the marketing & sales teams, Business Development and Categories.
- Regulatory Education
- Educate internal teams, including innovation teams, categories, and sales managers, on the regulatory framework for dietary supplements and functional foods in North America.
- Stay current with evolving regulatory guidelines and communicate any changes and updates to the relevant stakeholders within the organization.
- Consultation and Support
- Act as a regulatory consultant for external customers looking to launch new dietary supplements, functional food, and beverages with health benefits.
- Assist customers during key phases of our brief to contract process, including inspiration, brief creation, and ingredient selection, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Compliance Oversight
- Review and evaluate product concepts and formulations to ensure they comply with relevant regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and our plant in Canada to resolve any regulatory compliance issues and provide solutions to meet regulatory requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Lead and execute regulatory affairs on customer documentation requests.
- Submit approval dossiers for new active ingredients to the FDA to support roll-out of new ingredients developed by our global innovation team.
- Quality Assurance
- Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure products meet quality and safety (including Toxicology) standards in addition to regulatory compliance.
About You
Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
- BS in Chemistry, Food Science or related field or BA in business, MBA a plus
- In-depth knowledge of the regulatory framework for dietary supplements and functional foods in North America, including FDA regulations and labeling requirements
- 5 year prior experience in regulatory affairs within the dietary supplements or food industry, especially experience with an ingredient supplier is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of product development processes and the ability to apply regulatory knowledge to product design and formulation.
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively educate and advise both internal and external stakeholders.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess product formulations and resolve regulatory challenges.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage and maintain regulatory documentation.
- Proactive and self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt to changing regulatory requirements and industry trends.
- Strong commercial acumen, with a start-up mindset of taking risks and failing fast. Resilient and result driven.
- Skills and proficient in the use of information sharing platforms and tools (SAP, Microsoft Office suite of products, Project Management tools,..).
- Able to prioritize, plan, organize and follow through on projects.
