You have a real focus on working collaboratively to identify opportunities for growth and think boldly and innovatively about the delivery of solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aquatic education, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to promoting best practices in swimming instruction. We also welcome candidates who have experience in developing training programmes that have collaborated with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure training solutions are aligned with organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

The Training and Excellence Manager will have overall responsibility for:

  • Ensuring Level Water’s swimming lessons are high quality
  • Ensuring Level Water’s swimming lessons are impactful
  • Driving continuous improvement of the programme.
  • Finding and implementing innovative solutions to improve learning outcomes
  • Developing the national teacher workforce to deliver exceptional lessons and build confidence in delivery
  • Developing a network of partners (people & organisations) to showcase best practice in inclusion and physical activity.

Role Responsibilities

  • Training and Development:
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive training programs for Inclusion Specialists & Swimming Teachers.
  • Manage the “LW Teacher Academy” to conduct regular training sessions, workshops and masterclasses to enhance instructors' skills and knowledge.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, techniques, and safeguarding standards to incorporate into training materials.
  • Update and develop LW training workshop as required.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Monitor and evaluate the delivery of swimming lessons to ensure adherence to established standards and protocols.
  • Conduct regular observations and assessments of teacher performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives based on assessment findings and feedback.
  • Feedback Collection and Analysis:
  • Manage systems for collecting feedback from swimmers, parents, and teachers.
  • Analyse feedback data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and present reports on feedback findings and recommended actions to senior management.
  • Curriculum Development:
  • Collaborate with Inclusion Specialists to continuously improve and update the training curriculum.
  • Ensure that lesson plans are comprehensive, age-appropriate, and aligned with best practices in swimming teaching.
  • Leadership and Support:
  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to swimming instructors to foster professional growth and development.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating best practices in teaching and customer service.
  • Partnership Management
  • Manage and develop existing relationships with Training & Development organisations (STA, IoS, Autism Swim)
  • Form and develop new partnerships with disability organisations to offer comprehensive disability knowledge and training.
  • Liaise with existing LW providers to develop further opportunities and enhance provision
  • Manage and develop national partnerships (SLM, PFP & GLL)
  • Administration
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, certifications, and feedback reports.
  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new instructors.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to strategic planning initiatives.

Compensation Details

  • £38-43k basic (dependent on experience) - full time, permanent
  • Our whole team works remotely - it is our preference that you can get to Tunbridge Wells one day a week (and more during the first month).
  • We don’t work 9-5 and you don’t need to either
  • We will agree on the outcomes that you’ll deliver each month - it is up to you how, where and when to achieve them.
  • We have an unlimited holiday allowance. All holiday bookings will be subject to your manager's approval.
