Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill this amazing opportunity on for the upcoming LONG-RANGE ENTERPRISE INTELLIGENCE, SURVEILLANCE, AND RECONNAISSANCE ACTIVITY (LEIA).

Peraton will deliver a broad spectrum of Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C6ISR) capabilities to support SOCPAC missions and it's AORs. Capabilities include using air, maritime, ground, and space-based platforms to meet mission needs in an ever-changing threat and technology landscape. Our team will provide support to continuously evolve and leverage the latest technologies and best practices to rapidly refresh capabilities and ensure platforms and intelligence operations are optimized to support the SOCPAC missions.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Writer with experience working with Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) sensors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, with a focus on documenting complex systems and technologies related to ISR. This role involves creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation that supports the development, deployment, and operation of ISR sensor systems. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and other stakeholders to produce clear, concise, and accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish guidelines and standard procedures for producing technical documents, including documentation schedules and quality assurance processes.
  • Work closely with software developers, subject matter experts (SMEs), analysts, programmers, and other technical staff to obtain relevant technical information.
  • Interface with a diverse group of end users to understand and resolve user issues with the system.
  • Gather information from end users, work with developers to answer questions, and resolve user issues.
  • Create, update, and maintain technical manuals, user guides, maintenance procedures, and other documentation related to ISR sensor systems.
  • Ensure all documents are accurate, clear, and aligned with user needs.
  • Work closely with engineers, system developers, and other subject matter experts to gather technical information and translate it into user-friendly documentation.
  • Develop content that explains complex technical concepts and procedures related to ISR sensor systems in a clear and concise manner.
  • Tailor content to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Review and edit documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure all content meets established standards and guidelines.
  • Create, edit, and manage technical documentation, including manuals, plans, procedures, and training materials.
  • Maintain version control of all technical documents, ensuring that all changes and updates are tracked and implemented correctly.
  • Provide documentation support to end-users, assisting them in understanding and utilizing ISR sensor systems effectively.
  • Identify areas for improvement in existing documentation and recommend updates to enhance clarity, usability, and overall quality.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with relevant industry standards, military specifications, and security requirements.
  • Maintain a library of technical terminology and ensure logical content structure.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Relevant additional experience can be used in lieu of education
  • 8+ years of experience in technical writing, with a focus on ISR sensors or related technologies.
  • Strong understanding of ISR systems, including sensor types, operation, and integration.
  • Proficiency in technical writing tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, XML/DITA, or other content management systems).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Proven experience in creating documents that effectively communicate highly technical material to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong research and analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience working with large-scale, enterprise-class networks and systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience with developing comprehensive style guides.
  • Experience collaborating with product, customer success, and engineering teams.

Skills:

  • Experience with military or defense-related ISR systems.
  • Familiarity with military standards and specifications for technical documentation.
  • Experience working in a highly technical environment with engineers and developers.
  • Knowledge of the end-to-end lifecycle of ISR systems, from development to deployment and operation.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and inclusive training methodologies.
  • Proficiency in managing and enhancing content for technical manuals, training materials, and software documentation.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within cross-functional teams.

Working Conditions:

  • Defined work location with a combination of remote and office-based work.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training sessions or meetings.
