Job Description

Reports to: Senior Construction Manager UK 

Location: Remote

Introduction to role

Vanderlande is a global market leader in material handling systems. Working within the project execution department a Construction Group Leader will report into the Senior Construction Manager and be responsible for leading the UK Construction Team ensuring implementation of best practiceActing as a safety champion and guardian of best practice for all construction related activity across project portfolios for the UK Branch.   Acting as an enabler for the team’s mission and vision harnessing leadership with a drive to set standards and positively collaborate with an everyday better mindset where safety culture and prioritisation forms the foundation of execution.   

Role Responsibilities

This role will understand the value and dynamic nature of people with the demonstrable ability to motivate and achieve results through mentorship and coaching against a backdrop of continuous personal growth building the future leaders within the business and strengthening the capability of the team against the teams strategy, vision and core values. Serving our internal and external customers against a framework of ownership and accountability, the execution of the role will be underpinned by promotion of both physical and psychological safety acting as a positive role model as part of an inclusive culture with a givers mindset. 

Your responsibilities and activities will include:

Role Qualification and Skills

  • Experience in a leadership role primarily focussed on people/line management 
  • Understanding of servant leadership principals and demonstrable people development skills 
  • 5+ years’ experience in successfully managing large multi-disciplined teams during delivery of large and complex projects in a demanding environment with proven results. 
  • Awareness and proven experience with aspects of project delivery throughout the lifecycle. 
  • Experienced in development and delivery of tactical plans supporting best practice and defining functional standards. 
  • Awareness and solid understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations and HASWA 74 
  • Experience in building culture and championing change. 
  • IT literate, capable of using MS Office and Outlook as a minimum. 
  • Proven Safety record through stewardship within time critical and pressurised working environments. 
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and harness an entrepreneurial mindset. 
  • Possess the ability to champion a successful safety culture and safe working ethos. 
  • Implementation of new ways of working based on continuous improvement principals. 
  • Financial and Project Management Awareness. 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • SMSTS Trained as a minimum. 
  • NVQ Level 5 in Strategic Management & Leadership or equivalent. 
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or higher. 
  • ECS Card / CSCS Black Management Card. 
  • NEC Training or equivalent. 

Candidates must reside with eligibility to work in the UK and willing to travel.
