Finance Department 

Finance Department (FD) is responsible for financial management of the GIC group. We support the GIC Group in Financial Planning and Analysis, Financial Governance, Financial Reporting, Accounting Operations, and Treasury & Cash Management. We are a strategic partner to the departments in GIC and supports their operations, growth and competitiveness through our financial expertise and data-driven insights. We also harness data and technology to achieve excellence in financial operations.

 

What impact can you make in this role? 

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join the Global Accounting Operations team with the Finance Department. As a member of the finance team, you are responsible for maintaining the corporate legal entities accounting ledgers and in ensuring that they comply with in-country statutory and tax regulations and enterprise policy and procedures. The ideal candidate should possess strong accounting technical knowledge, has a good working knowledge of financial transactions operations, and can contribute positively to the continuous improvements of the operations processes and controls through automation and digital initiatives.  

 

What will you do as an AVP/VP in the Global Accounting Operations team?

  • Accountable for the accounting operations and month-end closing activities that involves (but not limited to) the preparation of journal entries, accounts reconciliation, cashflow management & forecast, intercompany settlement, etc.
  • Preparation of reporting packages and analysis of accounting schedules in accordance with relevant statutory requirement, including trial balance, balance sheet, profit and loss statements and accounting schedules
  • Perform analysis and explain variances on the financial statements
  • Work with external stakeholders that includes auditors, tax & accounting advisors and company secretary on audits, accounting operations or regulatory filings
  • Assist internal stakeholders in accounting issues and queries
  • Review processes and controls for accounting operations to effectively safeguard assets
  • Liaise with external auditors in annual statutory audit procedures to meet reporting timeline
  • Develop solutions to resolve accounting discrepancies and other financial issues
  • Lead initiatives to design, transform and innovate operational process and improve controls to meet business requirements
  • Support system implementation to meet new accounting and business requirements as they arise
  • Lead and support department’s projects as assigned

 

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with at least 7 years of relevant experience in corporate accounting function. Candidates applying for VP position need to have > 12 years of relevant experience in a progressive role.
  • A self-motivated and results-oriented individual with strong accounting technical knowledge and working experience in the application of sound financial controls and processes
  • Highly organized and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Independent, resourceful, and good team player who can collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and finance team members
  • Meticulous, diligent and hands-on individual with the capability to identify and solve accounting operations issues efficiently and effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills, who is keen to learn and pick up new challenges in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (such as advance excel skills) and strong working experience in SAP will be advantageous
