What will you be doing?

 

The news editor will be responsible for editing Argus news stories, market commentaries and other written publications as part of the Asian editing team. You will help shape Argus’ news and analysis coverage across the company’s online platforms and business intelligence reports, including by providing regular feedback and guidance to the Asian reporting staff.

 

  • To edit and write copy for Argus’ online news service and business intelligence reports.
  • To work closely with editorial staff to improve the breadth and quality of Argus’ news and analysis output.
  • To recognise errors in copy and to improve the quality when required.
  • To maintain strong working relationships with reporters and other editorial staff.
  • To ensure the highest standards of spelling, punctuation, grammar, accuracy and consistency in all published material.

 

 What we’re looking for in you

 

  • Experience with editing business news, ideally commodities
  • A high degree of understanding with regard to grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • An ability to write in clear and concise English
  • An understanding of what constitutes a good news story and the ability to communicate this to other editorial staff when needed
  • The ability to use desktop publishing software packages and content management systems, or to be able to pick them up quickly.
  • The ability to work with the minimum of supervision within a team structure

Hours

Monday through Friday, 11.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.  

Earlier or later hours, or weekend hours, may be expected on occasion.
