Job description

 


The Nevada Supreme Court is seeking a skilled and dedicated Network Administrator to manage and maintain our network infrastructure. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation and security of the Court's IT systems, supporting both judicial and administrative functions. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.

This position can be in Carson City or Las Vegas. 

After an initial training period, there may be an opportunity for a hybrid remote/in-office schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Management:

  • Configure, implement, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other networking systems.
  • Monitor network performance to ensure optimal system functionality and reliability.
  • Perform regular maintenance, including software updates and hardware upgrades.

Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Provide technical support to IT staff and end-users.
  • Ensure quick response and resolution of network-related incidents.

Security and Compliance:

Work with Information Security Officers to:

    • Implement and maintain network security measures, such as firewalls and VPNs.
    • Ensure the network complies with relevant security standards and regulations.
    • Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability testing.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain detailed network documentation, including configurations, network maps, and procedures.
    • Generate reports on network performance, security incidents, and other key metrics.
    • Document technical issues and solutions for future reference.

    Collaboration and Project Support:

    • Assist in network-related projects, from planning through execution and completion.
    • Coordinate with vendors and external partners for hardware and software procurement.
    • Support project timelines, budgets, and resource management.
    • This position may also require collaborating with other government branches or agencies.

    We are looking for candidates with: 

    • At least three years of network administration 
    • Proficiency with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
    • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other networking protocols.
    • Experience with network security practices and tools.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

    The following are preferred but not required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE). 
    • Experience working in a government or judicial environment.
    • Familiarity with court-specific software and systems.


    Effectively works remotely and collaborates with employees from a remote location, as needed. Must have expertise in virtual meeting platforms, such as Teams. Must have the ability to work remotely via an internet network connection provided by the employee. This connection speed must be sufficient to perform all duties. A minimum of 50-100 mb download speeds are required. Higher connection speed may be required if sharing this connection with other members in an employee’s household.
