Responsibilities:

  • Identifying vibrant nexuses of research communities where spotlighting their work could increase their funding, accelerate their research, inspire and enrich their discussions, reveal and demonstrate new approaches and technologies, or set new directions for the community
  • Classifying types of topics into categories such as emerging, trending, cross-disciplinary, consolidating, new directions, new technologies, and others to facilitate discussions among the section journal’s community
  • Identifying the leading researchers of niche communities as topic editor (TE) candidates, from particular markets if relevant
  • Developing a compelling case for each Research Topic and obtaining the approval and support of the SCE with support from the Journal Manager
  • Collaborating with the TE to identify researchers within the community as potential contributors to the RT; developing compelling personalized invitations to these researchers to submit an article to the RT
  • Developing a sense of anticipation among the AE board over RTs and commissioning AE and RE participation where relevant
  • Project managing the entire life cycle of each RT, from launch to supporting TEs in recruiting contributors and following up on confirmed contributors to receive high-quality submissions
  • Setting the right expectations with TEs, educating them on their role and motivating them to succeed
  • Providing feedback to continuously improve the Research Topic and Journal Playbooks and contributing their insights to update the annual Research Topic Strategic Plan developed by the Publishing Manager, Research Topics and to any annual updates of the Journal Strategic Plan

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years working experiences in the relevant subject areas with business development skills;
  • Master’s Degree or above in the following subject areas, PhD preferred, physical science and engineering relevant field, environmental science background would be a plus
  • Excellent communication in written and spoken English;
  • Highly motivated and target driven;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize varied workload under pressure;
  • Quality and detail oriented;
  • Can identify and understand challenges and opportunities; comparing information from different sources to draw conclusions;
  • Commercial acumen and excellent negotiation skills;
  • IT Proficiency with MS Office and Google tools.
