Job description

Job Location: This position will be located statewide in MO with an emphasis in the Kansas City and Northwest region.

Why You’ll Love This Position

This is a professional-level construction administration position for the Office of Administrative, Division of Facilities Management, Design and Construction (OA-FMDC) that is accountable for planning and coordinating new construction, repair, and preventative maintenance for facilities and infrastructure under the control of a state agency. Construction Project Specialists at this level are able to prepare construction plans and specifications for projects which include: developing scopes of work, obtaining field measurements, and preparing cost estimates. This position will consult with agency staff, public officials, architects, engineers, surveyors, and contractors regarding new construction, repairs, and physical plant maintenance issues.

  • Knowledge of building codes, environmental regulations, and safety codes.
  • Knowledge of project management process and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical construction documentation.
  • Responsible for construction administration of multiple construction projects at a time, located statewide.
  • Plan and prioritize individual contributions, and those of team members to achieve high-quality, timely results.
  • Communicate with Project Team. Identify and understand requirements of the project team, and participate in collaborative problem solving.
  • Write reports, letters, and other related project documentation.
  • Provide administrative services to oversee and coordinate Design Professionals and Contractors, in accordance with their contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Review and process RFI's, RFP's, Change Orders, Pay Applications, Submittals, etc. and ensure project document accuracy.
  • Use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe, Bluebeam, and Project Management software (Prolog and E-Builder).
  • Assist project management personnel with design reviews.
  • Administer project progress meetings and inspections.
  • Provide and review cost estimates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, and 1 or more years of experience in construction projects. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
  • Knowledge of the building trades areas.
  • Knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools, and methods used in building trades.
  • Knowledge of construction and trade areas safety requirements and methods.
  • Ability to identify construction issues and propose resolutions.
