Job description

We are looking for volunteers who are qualified mental health practitioners or who are interested in helping support people as a mentor.

What difference will you make?

We appreciate and value the significant contributions that volunteers make to the aims and objectives of Icarus. We therefore recognise that it is crucial that we attract volunteers to our organisation to help us achieve our charitable purpose and associated goals. This role can have a profound impact by providing emotional support, improving veterans' mental well-being, fostering resilience, reducing stigma, and connecting veterans with vital resources. It not only enhances individual veterans' lives but also contributes to a healthier and more supportive environment within the veteran community.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers who are qualified mental health practitioners or who are interested in helping support people as a mentor. We ask that prospective volunteers demonstrate a commitment to the aims of Icarus and that their availability as volunteers aligns with the needs of the charity. We provide appropriate support and supervision to allow volunteers to realise their full potential in their role with us. We are committed to compliance with all relevant legislative obligations relating to the environment in which our volunteers carry out their role.

What will you be doing?

A volunteer mentor supporting veterans with mental health problems dedicates approximately five hours a week to provide invaluable guidance and support to veterans facing mental health challenges. In this role, they serve as a trusted and empathetic companion, helping veterans navigate the complexities of their mental well-being journey.
