Project description

Advancing Health Professionals (AHP): a Peace Corps Response program, is seeking a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as Healthcare Quality Management Specialist with the Ministry of Health Cooperative Agreement Office (MoH CoAg) in Mbabane without the provision of direct medical care to patients or clinical supervision of students. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in healthcare quality or quality assurance management or other relevant degree, at least five years’ experience managing quality management systems, implementing ISO 9001:2015 requirements, auditing ISO programs, and have excellent understanding of health systems. Desired qualifications include experience in project management, ability to work independently, initiate and manage multiple activities, be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, think analytically and problem-solve, work in a fast-paced environment, and be certified professional in healthcare quality.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has successfully implemented Quality Management Systems at the facility level. However, the Ministry has shown little improvement in terms of coordination of Quality Management activities for the entire health sector. Although a National Quality Management Program is in place, Quality management activities across the Ministry of Health facilities are not well coordinated. The Ministry wants to identify successful models from outside sources which can be adapted by MOH at national level. This project will help to improve the activities being implemented by the MoH CoAg with the National Quality Management program. The PCRV will take part in teaching courses both online and in-person sessions and will share insights on how to make the most of both teaching approaches in nursing education.

The PCRV will participate in the assessment of the coordination of quality management activities at MOH national level, review and co-develop a proper quality management model for the MOH and provide guidance and support in the development of a quality management strategic plan for the MOH. PCRVs are expected to report on their activities twice during their service.

Peace Corps Response established its "Advancing Health Professionals" program in 2019. Response Volunteers serving with the AHP program seek to improve health outcomes on a societal level by providing high-level, specialized service in the health sector. AHP projects include health professions educators, health systems strengthening, service delivery improvement, and other non-clinical interventions that enhance the quality of healthcare.

Invitees will be arriving in Eswatini together as a group. While the whole group's departure dates could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
